Let's start with the fact that just a few years ago only large production companies that shot expensive videos, advertisements or documentaries with a large budget could afford aerial filming. Filming was carried out from real helicopters, less often airplanes, and for these purposes very expensive stabilized cameras such as CINEFLEX or Shotover were used (and continue to be used). As you understand, in an advertising video or clip, the total timing of aerial shots ranges from several seconds to several tens of seconds. And we had to spend thousands, and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars on them.
But a few years ago a revolution of sorts occurred (as it had previously happened with the invention of the Steadicam). And now for filming, including in cinema, multicopters have begun to be used everywhere, capable of flying with cameras like Red Dragon, Alexa M, etc. and staying in the air for up to 15-20 minutes.
Of course, for remote, hard-to-reach, long-term, filming at high speed or in bad weather, helicopters will still be used, but multicopters, despite the existing limitations, offer orders of magnitude lower cost of filming, a simpler and faster workflow. In addition, multicopters are capable of flying indoors, replacing bulky and expensive robotic survey cranes. Even such masters as BrainFarm cinema, who previously constantly filmed from helicopters, have now added several powerful multicopters to their arsenal.
But progress has moved even further and now anyone can purchase a DJI Phantom series quadcopter and shoot either with a GoPro on a stabilized gimbal, or use a high-quality built-in camera DJI Phantom 3. Thanks to new flight controllers, modern quadcopters use GPS, GLONASS, altimeter, compass, ultrasonic and scanning the underlying surface sensors. Thanks to this, flying has become quite simple, and the likelihood of a helicopter crashing due to a malfunction tends to zero.
Many videographers discovered a completely new and previously inaccessible type of filming; some put their cameras aside for a while and began filming only in the sky.

Aerial photography adds dimension to any event, so why not use it for wedding videography? If the work is properly planned, this will not take additional time, but will raise the wedding film to a new level in visual terms.
Now let's talk about the differences between high-quality video and low-quality video. Modern small quadcopters provide very good stabilization at wind speeds of no more than 6 m/s. You can still shoot up to 10 m/s, but you will definitely have to stabilize the video in software during post-processing. For example, we always perform video stabilization, remove the Rolling Shutter effect, and correct geometric distortions introduced by wide-angle lenses (this does not apply to the DJI Phantom 3 camera with its viewing angle of about 90 degrees). After this, we perform color correction and, if necessary, remove foreign objects from the frame, for example, people, signs, etc. The latter process is especially time-consuming and expensive, so it is much easier to spend a few minutes preparing and planning the flyover than cleaning up defects after filming.

- Choose a wedding photographer, as well as a videographer who provides this service. Tell them your ideas and wishes, and they will implement them using their equipment. The downside is that the operator can only take one shot: either from the ground or from the air, controlling the gadget.
- In addition to a photo and videographer, hire a person who deals only with aerial photography: in this case, all important wedding moments will be filmed from all angles.
- Rent a “flying camera” and ask one of your friends to take a few shots. However, in this case, it may take time to understand the controls of the copter.
In any of these options there are main rules. Firstly, the aircraft must have a good stabilization system so that the video does not appear “shaky”. Secondly, the camera it is equipped with must have high resolution to ensure high-quality images.
