I make a wedding bouquet from iClay. We need an outside perspective!

How to make a boutonniere

Often brides prefer not to use the services of florists, but want to make their own wedding boutonnieres

When making such a decision, it is important to resort to a trial version and practice in advance in decorating this decoration. In this case, you will get a truly original and memorable gift for your future spouse.

Ideas for successful compositions can always be found on the Internet; there are also detailed master classes that clearly explain how to make a boutonniere from fresh flowers or improvised decorative materials.

To make the chosen composition, you will definitely need not only the flowers themselves and the accompanying decor, but also “working” materials - scissors, a glue gun or PVA glue, tape, floral wire, a special liquid for impregnating living plants, etc.

We assemble a beautiful bouquet from polymer clay ourselves

Polymer clay hardens quickly in air, so when sculpting, wrap it in cling film. It retains its properties for about 10 minutes, so you must have time to form it into the desired part during this time.

In addition, this material absorbs dirt and various debris and lint very well, so wash your hands thoroughly before working and keep the work surface clean.

It is better not to store an open package of clay for a long time, but if you still have material left after sculpting and you are not going to work with it in the near future, then you need to pack the clay well in cling film and put a damp cloth inside.

So, the workplace and tools are ready, all the subtleties of working with polymer clay are taken into account, you can start creating a masterpiece with your own hands. And we will create a masterpiece using the example of a master class on making a beautiful bouquet of peonies.

Required materials and tools:

  • Polymer clay in white, red and green colors;
  • Acrylic mold for making sheet;
  • Wire cutters;
  • Base for boutonniere;
  • Tape;
  • Decorative tailor's pins;
  • Wire for flower stems;
  • Tapes;
  • PVA glue.

We begin the work by making a peony flower. Add a small amount of red to white clay and mix well until a uniform pink shade is obtained.

Divide the resulting piece into 20 pieces approximately 1 cm in size and 12 larger pieces (1.5 cm). If you are new to this business and work slowly with clay, then it is better to cover the workpieces with a damp cloth - the clay dries very quickly.

From each piece, form a drop, spread the thick end of it over your palm and form a concave petal on the stem.

Glue large and small petals together in pairs, slightly moving them relative to each other.

Glue the remaining small petals in the form of a fan with the concave side inward and twist it in a spiral - you get the core of the flower.

Glue large petals around the core with the concave side out.

Now we need to make leaves for our bouquet. To do this, mix white and green clay well until a uniform light green shade is obtained, add a little more green clay to it and stir until streaks appear. Separate as many pieces as you want to make leaves, form them into drops and place each drop on the leaf mold, then carefully separate and shape the leaf.

Making a peony bud. Mix the remaining pink clay with red clay and stir until streaks appear, roll a ball about 2 cm in size from this piece.

From a piece of unmixed green clay, form three cakes and paste them over the bud, giving the shape of sepals.

Glue the wire onto the blanks of buds, flowers and leaves using PVA and dry at room temperature for 24 hours.

Wrap all parts with wire with tape. Then collect all the blanks into one bouquet and wrap it again with tape. Leave the stems approximately 7cm long and cut the rest of the wire with wire cutters.

Using tape, wrap the base of the boutonniere, wrap the stems with tape, the end of which is pinned with a decorative pin. Decorate your boutonniere with a beautiful bow.

If you need a larger bouquet, then make both the stems and leaves a little larger. Gather several flowers together and wrap their stems with tape, adding leaves at the very end. Wrap the stems with ribbon, securing each turn with a decorative pin.

A wonderful bouquet of peonies made from polymer clay is ready.

As an example, we bring to your attention several photos with various bouquets.

In this easy way you can make beautiful realistic flowers from polymer clay. Starting with the creation of a single flower, you will gradually be able to create entire bouquets and ikebana arrangements that will never wither and will delight you and decorate your interior for many years.

Advantages of a bouquet made of polymer clay

The advantages of a clay wedding composition are undeniable:

  • Durability. Fresh flowers often wither already at the ceremony, and this is a sad and terrible sight on such an optimistic holiday. Clay compositions will last unchanged not only during the wedding celebration, but also for many years after (if you do not drop the composition).
  • Beauty. Craftswomen have learned to make clay flowers so skillfully that they will not only be indistinguishable from real ones, but even more beautiful. The buds they make are smooth, lush, always in the best shape, with the same desired size, desired tone, which cannot be said about fresh flowers, which may have natural flaws.
  • Ease. A wedding bouquet created using polymer clay is lightweight. In weight it does not exceed 50 - 250 g, although at first glance it may seem otherwise. This will help the bride not to get tired too quickly, since wearing a heavy item for a long time is not an easy task.
  • Variability. At any time of the year and under any conditions, the bride will be able to get married with the flowers in the wedding composition that she wants. And snowdrops in mid-August are no longer a fairy tale, but a real reality, accessible to any girl who chooses a clay wedding bouquet.
  • Related accessories. Using clay, you can make not only a wedding composition, but also a beautiful boutonniere for the groom, decorate glasses, napkins, the bride’s hairstyle - all this will be in the same style, will not fade or lose its original appearance.
  • Save time. A craftsman can make a handmade clay wedding composition long before the wedding, carefully place it in a safe place and calmly not think about it until the celebration. A composition of fresh flowers must be collected 20 minutes before the wedding (or picked up if it is done by florists). This creates even more excitement on such an important day, especially if there are any hiccups.
  • Photogenic. Wedding clay arrangements have a photogenic look throughout the wedding, so you can take great photos at any time of the holiday, rather than rushing into a photo shoot at the beginning of the celebration.
  • Symbolism. A bouquet from a wedding, kept in the family for many years, can always remain a symbol of the love of husband and wife, a reminder of a bright holiday. After many years, it can be shown to the children and grandchildren of the spouses, thereby forming in their minds the image of a happy family.

Pros of polymer clay accessories

  • Family value - the bouquet will remain as a keepsake for you.
  • The clay is very light. A wedding bouquet will be no heavier than one made from fresh flowers.
  • When choosing flowers for a bouquet, you do not depend on the season. Lilies of the valley, peonies, tulips, orchids - you can make your favorite flower at any time of the year.
  • Products will not fade in the sun and will not freeze in cold weather (at a winter wedding).
  • Flowers of any shade and size can be made from clay. These criteria allow you to create truly unique jewelry.
  • Clay is not toxic.
  • Clay is hypoallergenic. Therefore, if you cannot choose flowers due to allergies, a clay bouquet will be an excellent choice.

Additional benefits of flowers made from polymer clay

  • The uniqueness of a wedding bouquet made of polymer clay is due to handmade work. Making such bouquets takes up to two months of work. You are unlikely to find polymer clay flowers on sale. This means that you can count on the fact that another bride will not have an identical bouquet.
  • Don't worry about the appearance of a bouquet of flowers made from polymer clay. Regardless of weather conditions, the bouquet will look at the highest level. Moreover, it will be difficult to notice the substitution in wedding photos and videos. An artificial bouquet can only be recognized by examining it from a fairly close distance.
  • Flowers made from polymer clay are used not only for making a bridal bouquet. They are widely used in the design of wedding accessories, for example, wedding glasses for the newlyweds, in the design of the bride’s hairstyle, in decorating compositions on tables, in decorating a wedding dress, veil, and headbands. In addition, you can create original straps for a dress and any other wedding decorations.

Signs and superstitions associated with a wedding bouquet

Superstitions and traditions regarding the wedding bouquet come from antiquity, some are unfounded, but still girls in most cases trust the signs, try to adhere to them, observe them. Other brides openly ignore superstitions, doing as their heart tells them or adhering to only some traditions. Popular signs and superstitions:

Flowers in a wedding composition must be fresh, ideally combined with the bride’s outfit and her image

According to tradition, it is undesirable to use bright, provocative shades in a floral arrangement; preference should be given to light tones - white, cream, soft pink. Particular attention was paid to the flowers from which the composition was made, because if you know the “language of flowers” it is not difficult to guess what feelings the groom has for his future life partner. Thus, roses symbolize sincere, passionate love; orchids - affection; tulips - love, hope for a happy life together; lilies are a symbol of gratitude, an expression of sincerity of feelings.

Once upon a time, grooms made bouquets or wreaths on their own, collecting for this purpose certain wild flowers, herbs - field daisies, bells, cornflowers, lilies of the valley according to the season, and used greenery for decoration, for example, ferns. It was believed that such a composition would protect the newlyweds from the evil eye during the wedding ceremony, as well as protect their family happiness from damage throughout their lives.

During the wedding day, the bride should always keep the bouquet with her and not let go of it. During the banquet, it is placed in a vase on the table of the newlyweds, and in the evening the newlyweds take it with them. According to another tradition, the bride, at the end of the festivities, throws a bouquet to her unmarried bridesmaids. The one who catches him, according to legend, will be the next to go down the aisle. Many brides manage to combine two traditions by using a duplicate bouquet toss. This allows you to save the bouquet and thereby not offend the bridesmaids.

Features of the composition

If previously it was believed that the bride must wear an accessory made of fresh flowers, today many replacements have been invented for this solution. Polymer clay allows you to create buds that are indistinguishable from real ones, especially if you practice a little before starting to compose the main composition.

A clay wedding bouquet has several advantages.

  • Durability. The bride will be able to keep her wedding accessory for many years; it will decorate the interior without making the decoration tasteless. Instead of the main composition at the end of the wedding, a girl can throw a backup made of fresh flowers to her unmarried girlfriends.
  • Ease. A fully assembled bouquet made of polymer clay weighs no more than 300 g, so the bride will be able to move freely throughout the day without fatigue.
  • Versatility. From this material you can create any flowers of different shades. A bride can come to a summer wedding with snowdrops, to a winter wedding with irises, etc. Fantasy wedding bouquets made of polymer clay, as in the photo, are very popular among modern brides.
  • Advance preparation. Polymer clay never loses its original appearance, so the accessory can be made even several months before the wedding. This frees the bride from additional hassle on her special day.
  • Photogenic. In photographs, flowers made from polymer clay look much brighter and more saturated than real flowers.

Role-playing games, lots and competitions

At any large wedding, in addition to the feast, various competitions and auctions are organized. Another good thing about such events is that the bouquet is preserved in its original, undamaged form and thus goes to its candidate.

A ritual with a bouquet can be turned into a competition with lots. To do this, you need to prepare beautiful ribbons, exactly as many as you want, to participate in the bride competition. These ribbons should be wrapped several times around the base of the flower arrangement, but only one should be tied with a strong knot. The ends of the ribbon should hang freely, so make sure they are long in advance. When the planned event begins, each unmarried girl must choose her own end of the ribbon; the one who gets the ribbon holding the bouquet is the lucky one.

Editor's choice: We select congratulations for your brother's wedding

  • When preparing the script for the wedding, it is worth taking care of an unusual competition with the bride’s bouquet. The pirate version will serve as an example. You will need a chest with a lock for it; you can take a huge suitcase or box and transform it beautifully. The bride's bouquet is hidden in the chest in advance; it is better to use its double, and the key to the lock is mixed with other similar keys. The keys can be placed in a crystal vase, on a tray, or played in a competition. The bride's bouquet will go to the one who can open the chest with her key.
  • Write the names of the girls on beautiful leaves, roll them into tubes, tie each of them with a silk ribbon and put it all in a beautiful vase. At the solemn moment, the bride takes out the treasured leaf at random, and thus determines who will receive the bouquet.
  • A somewhat unusual, but interesting Greek version, about a shoe. The name of the bridesmaids is written with a felt-tip pen on the sole of the bride’s shoes, whose name remains at the end of the celebration or the next dance, and she will receive the desired bouquet.
  • On a large Whatman paper, draw a labyrinth or a complex diagram, where a symbol marks the location of the lucky bouquet. The one who finds it first before finishing the competition will win.

All scenarios and examples with a wedding ritual about presenting a bouquet to the bride are good when the heroes of the occasion - the bride and groom - take part in their preparation. A few outside tips and tireless imagination will allow you to come up with your own, original tradition that can please both you and your guests.

Bride's image

Depending on the colors chosen, the accessory can suit any style of the hero of the occasion. This composition will complement the look in a tight or fluffy dress, short or long, with or without a train. The same applies to other accessories - shoes, handbags, gloves, etc.

The bride's hairstyle can also be different. Classic roses, lilies or orchids will be paired with a strict, elegant styling; wildflowers will be paired with loose curls or a slightly careless composition.

It is better to make the manicure monochromatic or French, since the abundance of details on the nails will distract from the appearance of the bouquet.

Polymer clay. Master Class

So, let's start modeling from polymer clay: Take white and red polymer clay, pre-kneaded, in proportions 3:1.
Using a paste machine or other available tools, create a smooth color transition. Fold the resulting white-red ribbon like an accordion.

polymer clay master class

Pinch the accordion reed and shape it into a barrel cane. Roll out the cane to a diameter of 07.-0.9 mm. Cut the cane into small thin slices.

Place one cut on the bottom of your left palm, and with the right finger of your left hand, press and stretch the cut to create a thin, elongated petal.

Wedding decorations made of polymer clay

Make a myriad of petals, as our polymer clay wedding decorations will require a lot of them. If the plastic sticks to your palm, dampen the surface of the skin with a damp cloth and continue making petals.

Take one petal and twist it into a spiral - this will be the core of the future rose.

Wedding decorations made of polymer clay

Place subsequent petals around the core, overlapping each other. To add fullness to the rose, use your fingers to give the edges of the petals wavy and slight curves.

When the rose is completely assembled and you are satisfied with its appearance and splendor, you need to make a through hole on the back of the flower with a needle or toothpick.

Wedding decorations made of polymer clay

How to make a lightweight core for earrings is very simple, take hollow metal beads that cost a penny and are available in any craft store, wrap red or white plastic around them, after threading toothpicks into the central through holes.

Wedding decorations made of polymer clay

Form roses of a smaller size than we did for the bracelet, cut off the tails from the back side and place the cut on the surface of the plastic in which a hollow metal bead is hidden.

wedding polymer clay

By holding the base of the toothpick, you can secure the flowers neatly and securely without deforming the rose petals. Try to place the roses closely on the ball so that there are no gaps between them.

In addition to the blossoming flowers, I propose to make buds, which consist of a core and two petals, collected in the same way as roses. Products must be fired at the temperature and time recommended in the instructions by the plastic manufacturer.

After firing, it is necessary to coat the plastic products with a water-based varnish.

Assembling wedding decorations from polymer clay

You will need: large and medium-sized crystal beads, red and white, memory wire for bracelets, earrings, metal nails with a loop, a thin chain with a small link, a carabiner lock, magnet beads, round nose pliers and wire cutters.
Prepare two turns of memory wire and use round nose pliers to make a small loop at one end.

Thread the following elements onto the wire in this order: magnet bead – bud – crystal white bead – large bud – crystal white bead – rose – etc. Place roses according to their size - from smallest flower to largest.

wedding polymer clay

When the first branch of roses is collected (you adjust its length according to the circumference of your wrist), after the last rose a magnet bead will go again, and then you string large red crystal beads - this will be the back of the bracelet, adjust its length according to the size of your wrist.

After the red beads, place the elements in the following sequence: magnet bead – large rose – crystal white bead – large rose – crystal white bead – rose – etc. Now the placement goes from largest to smallest, at the end of the branch we place a magnet bead and make a loop with round pliers.

wedding polymer clay

The magnets hold the bracelet securely on your hand, but for greater security, I still suggest making an additional fixation with a carabiner clasp.

wedding polymer clay

We assemble earrings from polymer clay as follows: insert a metal stud with a ball into a crystal cone-shaped bead and make a loop on the back side, fasten it in the loop of a metal stud with an eye and thread the stem of the stud into the through hole of the rose balls.

wedding polymer clay

Make a loop on the back of the metal nail and hang the earring on a chain in it.

Stages of work on making a rose

Roll a cylinder out of clay, cut it into unequal sections, from which roll into balls. The resulting balls should be of different sizes.

Make petals out of them in the shape of an ellipse. To do this, press the workpiece with your thumb to make it flat, and then a petal is formed from each ball.

Then a bud is assembled from the resulting petals, successively increasing the size of the petals towards the periphery. When assembling, you should assemble the bud so that the next petal covers at least the middle of the previous one. This rose will look good as a magnet on the refrigerator.

Step-by-step instructions with photos

Step 1

First you need to make roses.

Bouquet made of polymer clay - ready-made roses

To do this, take red or pink plastic. Pinch off a small piece from the block, roll it into a ball and then flatten it into a thin petal. Press down the edges of the petal well so that they are as thin as possible.

Make many other petals in the same way.

Flower petals don't have to be perfect circles. It also doesn't matter how similar they are. Use smaller elements for the central petals, larger ones for the distant petals.

Step 2

  • Then you need to make a rose from these petals.
  • To do this, take one petal and roll it into a tube. Then take another petal and wrap it around the tube.

Bouquet from polymer clay - forming the middle of the flower

Opposite the second petal, stick the third petal. To get a beautiful rose, use small petals first, and only then larger ones.

Bouquet made of polymer clay - add petals

Thus, stick 10-15 petals around the core. Try to do everything symmetrically and carefully, because the final result directly depends on this!

Step 3

  • Having finished sculpting the flower, cut off its protruding lower part. Ready!
  • Using this technique, make 4 pink and 5 red roses.

Step 4

  • Pinch off a small piece from dark green plastic. Pull it out into a thin reed.
  • Cut the cane into pieces 1-1.5 cm long. Use your fingers to press down the ends of the pieces and shape them into leaves.
  • Using a cutter, mark a center line on the leaves.
  • Using the same cutter, cut small triangle-shaped corners on the sides of the elements: this will give them a natural leaf look.

Step 5

  • Form a small ball from golden polymer clay. Roll it out into a disc. Then roll this disk into a seed bag shape.
  • Place polymer roses beautifully at the top of the bag. Carefully distribute the leaves between the flowers.

Step 6

  • Bake the bouquet in the oven for the amount of time specified in the instructions for the clay.
  • Wrap the finished bouquet with a thin ribbon. Tie it beautifully in the form of a festive bow.

Polymer clay flowers

Flowers forever! Materials for work:
• Polymer clay ClayCraft from DecoClay, white, red, green • Acrylic mold for making sheet • Nippers • Floral tape • Base for boutonniere • Tailor pins with transparent heads • Floral wire • Ribbons • PVA glue

DecoClay's ClayCraft clay dries completely within 24 hours. It is recommended to additionally place a wet wipe in the opened package. For beginners who are still working slowly, it is recommended to cover the workpieces with a damp cloth.

Making a peony flower:

1. Using stretching movements, mix the colors - basic white and a little red.

2. Divide the clay into 20 small pieces (1 cm) and 12 larger pieces (1.5 cm).

3. From each piece, large and small, make a drop, spread the thick end over the palm, then form a concave petal on the stem with a stroking motion.

4. Glue all the petals in two, small with small, large with large, when gluing, slightly move one petal to the side.

5. Glue small pieces together in the form of a fan, with the concave side inward.

6. Twist the fan in a spiral.

7. Glue large petals around the center with the concave side out.

Making leaves for a bouquet:

1. Mix white and green clay to get a light green color. Add a little more green clay to it, do not mix completely, leave streaks. 2. Form a drop, press into the sheet pan, carefully separate, shape into a sheet.

Making a peony bud:
1. Mix the pink plastic left over from the petals with the red one, without mixing completely. Roll it into a ball about 2 cm in size.

2. From the unmixed green plastic left over from the leaves, make 3-4 cakes, cover the bud with them, and shape the sepals.

3. Glue all the blanks onto floral wire using PVA and let dry for 24 hours.

Assembling the boutonniere and bouquet:

1. Wrap all wire parts of the boutonniere (2 leaves, 1 flower, 3 buds) with floral tape. Using tape, connect all the pieces together, attaching the parts one at a time. Leave the length of the stems 7-8 cm, cut off the excess with pliers.

To make the floral tape fit better, it needs to be slightly stretched before wrapping. You can simply tear it off with your hands.

2. Wrap the base of the boutonniere with tape. Wrap the stems with tape and pin the end with a pin. Decorate the boutonniere with a ribbon bow.

3. For a bouquet, you don’t need to wrap the floral wire with tape, since the stems will be practically invisible. Collect a bouquet of several flowers, which you wrap with tape. Add the leaves at the very end.

4. Cut the leg to the required length with wire cutters, wrap it with ribbon, pinning each turn with a decorative pin.

5. Decorate the bouquet with a ribbon bow.

Sequence of work

Paint the clay with a brush, and form a small protrusion in the center of the piece. To make the center of the flower, cut a cross from a piece of clay using a cutter. If there is no form for cutting, you must do it yourself with a knife. The ends of the cross-shaped workpiece are consistently bent inward.

Then bend the wire at an angle of 90 degrees. Place the center of a flower coated with glue onto the end of the wire.

Make the middle of the flower in the form of a small grain, on which an incision should be made, and place it in the center of the orchid. The flower is decorated in all available ways.

A painted piece of clay with a projection is rolled out and placed in a mold. The required number of petals is made in the same way.

In case of difficulties encountered during the work, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with photos and video master classes on making flowers from polymer clay published on the world wide web.

How to store a bouquet made of polymer clay - tips

To preserve a wedding bouquet made from polymer clay for many years, certain conditions must be met. Products made from polymer clay lose their properties and become unusable when:

photo 5

  • exposure to direct sunlight;
  • storage in conditions of high humidity and wetness;
  • mechanical damage (fall, blow).

The bouquet will remain attractive if it does not encounter a sharp temperature change, does not fall into heat or cold. This applies to possible transportation. It is better to keep such a decoration in a closet behind a glass door, where it will be clearly visible, but the bouquet will be protected from moisture, direct light and a lot of dust.

Getting rid of dust on a clay surface is easy. Do not wipe the flowers with a damp cloth or napkin. It is enough to use an ordinary dry, wide, soft brush. Its fibers will reach the most inaccessible places and will not damage the product.

In this video there is a master class on creating a wedding bouquet from polymer clay:

Modern technologies allow brides not only to show their imagination when creating a wedding bouquet, but also to preserve the accessory for many years. What techniques are used to create the most original compositions? Where can I get samples? What features does polymer clay have? What to use as a dye? Beginners always have a lot of questions, the answers to which they expect from experienced craftsmen and those who have already tried to create their own masterpiece.

Marathon

You can carry the theme of the bouquet as a red thread throughout the entire wedding program and organize elimination competitions for girlfriends during the evening. By the time the bouquet is handed over, there should be 2 or 3 applicants left. The outcome of the marathon can be determined by the traditional bouquet toss or some final competition.

This option is good if there are not a lot of young people at the wedding, who usually participate more actively in competitions - this way the host will receive a stable audience for holding competitions. Or, conversely, the bride has too many unmarried girlfriends.

You can believe in the bouquet sign, you can treat it simply as a beautiful wedding tradition, but in any case, we advise you to draw a bouquet in one way or another. This happy omen, although it does not guarantee immediate marriage, will certainly bring joy and a lot of positive emotions.

How to handle clay flowers

Flowers created using plastic (polymer clay) are reliable products. They are resistant to high temperatures, flexible - stronger than some stands and vases in which they can stand. However, there are certain factors that such flowers are afraid of. If you remember these things and do not expose your wedding bouquet to such influences, it will delight you with its beauty for a long time and remind you of a happy wedding.

What is a clay bouquet afraid of?

  • A fall. Clay products are resistant to falls and impacts. But a lot depends on the quality of the material. Clay, which is the material for creating these wedding masterpieces, can be of two types - strong, but fragile, and less strong, but flexible. If your wedding bouquet is made of the first type, then if it falls, it will break completely or partially. If it’s from the second one, it can only bend, which can be fixed: just carefully straighten the bent part.
  • Damage. If the wedding bouquet was not badly damaged when it fell, for example, a couple of branches or petals broke off, you can fix everything, so do not rush to throw away the broken parts. Take superglue and carefully glue the part to the fracture site - if you connect it accurately, no one will notice the damage. When making such compositions, the master himself uses glue to connect many parts.

Moisture. Clay is very afraid of moisture, so wiping it with a damp cloth, getting it wet, putting it in a room with high humidity, playing with water near such a product, leaving it near children who can “water” the flowers is absolutely not allowed. Under the influence of moisture, a product created using plastic can become deformed or even soften. If drops do get on clay flowers, blot them with a dry cloth, but do not wipe them, and then leave the bouquet to dry on its own. You should also not use a hairdryer, heater or radiator for drying.

  • Sun. Clay is not afraid of heat, but the paint that paints each flower is - it can fade, losing its original color. Therefore, try not to leave such flowers in direct sunlight.
  • Low temperature. Plastic products are not afraid of high temperatures, but they are very afraid of low temperatures. If you place the product in a cold place, the clay will become brittle and will be damaged at the slightest application of force. If this does happen, return the bouquet to a warm place again and it will return to its previous state.

How to store

You need to store a clay bouquet from a wedding in a dry, warm room, not in direct sunlight, away from those who could spill it (including a possible neighbor’s flood and an accidentally overturned mug of tea), in places where dust settles weakly, for example, on glass . To remove accumulated dust from flowers, wipe them with a dry cloth or synthetic brush, which is sold in every office supply store. You can admire the product, pick it up with your hands (but not wet), don’t drop it - and your wedding bouquet will delight you for a long time!

Roses and blueberries

We will need:

  • plastic (polymer clay) yellow, blue and white;
  • floral wire and ribbon;
  • flowerpot, basket, etc.;
  • foam base.

From yellow plastic (we can mix in a little white for a more delicate color), we first form balls of different sizes, and then roll out the petals on the palm of our hand from the center to the edge. Moreover, you can do this with the pad of your finger, but you can take a special tool with a ball at the end. When all the petals are ready, roll up a droplet from the same plastic and begin to apply petals to it, starting with small ones. We place the petals overlapping each other.

Moreover, starting from the second row, we bend the top edge outward.

We stick a wire into the base of the flower and set it aside so that the plastic sets. If you choose baked clay, first put it on a skewer, stick it into a ball of foil and put it in the oven. See the plastic packaging for time and temperature.

Now let's move on to the blueberries. We take several pieces of blue plastic and mix different amounts of white into them. Then we roll them into balls. To give it a natural look, lightly squeeze the ball and put a dimple on top with the rod from the handle. We string each berry onto a wire and form a twig, wrapping it with floral tape.

We make leaves using the same principle as in the previous example. The only thing is that you can take a pure color and roll it out on your palm.

We attach them to a blueberry branch. Moreover, as we see in the photo, the berries on the branch below are not only blue, but also white, simulating unripe ones.

Now we place the foam base in a flowerpot or other container. And we begin by sticking blanks of flowers and berries into it to form a bouquet.

As you can see, the principle of working with polymer clay is quite simple. Both a novice craftswoman and an already experienced needlewoman can make flowers with their own hands. And having learned how to make individual flowers, you will be able to create amazingly beautiful bouquets that at first glance will be impossible to distinguish from real flowers. Such compositions can be suitable as decorations for the interior, from which you only need to sweep away the dust, as a wedding bouquet and boutonniere for the groom, or just a bouquet as a gift. Below is a selection of videos of some color options.

Bouquet with ribbons: preparation

Many newlyweds are bored with the traditional method of throwing a flower arrangement to the bridesmaids. Delivering a bouquet using ribbons would be more original and no less intriguing. This interesting option will appeal to those who will have a lot of unmarried guests at their wedding. The good thing about it is that all the girls present have an equal chance of receiving the coveted bouquet.

To create an inexpensive bridal bouquet, you need to buy as many satin ribbons as there will be at the celebration of unmarried women. Experts note that ideally, each tape should be no shorter than 1.5 meters. Colors may vary. You can select them based on:

  • wedding color scheme;
  • colors of the interior of the banquet hall;
  • colors of flowers in a bouquet.

You can choose ribbons of various colors. Plain products also look interesting, so the organizers do not give clear recommendations on this matter. One ribbon is tied to the wedding bouquet. The rest the bride simply clutches in her palms.

One of the main and memorable elements of a beautiful bride’s image is the wedding bouquet. And, of course, the future bride tries to choose for this unforgettable day exactly those flowers that will create a unique image that is in harmony with her appearance. But which bouquet should you prefer? After all, today there can be a bouquet of fresh flowers, fabric and buttons, paper and other artificial materials.

The website svadebnye-sovety.ru offers once again a new look at the traditional bridal bouquet. And, perhaps, after reading our article you will choose an original bouquet made of polymer clay.

This material came to masters from Japan. Its unique properties make it possible to produce an artificial bouquet that is almost impossible to distinguish from a living one.

A bouquet made of polymer clay has many advantages.

-1. It can be composed of flowers that have never been found in nature . Talented craftsmen are able to create such a composition that guests will start asking the bride from which tropical countries did they bring her this wonderful thing? Not every living bouquet can harmoniously fit the bouquet into the initially conceived image of the bride. Ceramic floristry makes it possible to independently choose the stylistic design, shape and color scheme of the bouquet.

2. The time of year will not in any way influence the choice of bouquet components : you can take both delicate violets and beautiful lilies; lush asters and strict callas.

3. Eco-friendly and non-toxic clay is ideal for allergy sufferers and pregnant brides.

4. Unlike fresh flowers, a bouquet made from such material will be attractive in any weather conditions ; it will not be affected by temperature changes or stormy gusts of wind.

5. A wedding bouquet made of polymer clay can be stored as a memorable attribute for a very long time; it does not lose its appearance and does not require special maintenance conditions. The only condition for the safety of the bouquet should be the absence of high humidity in the room. Droplets of moisture attract dust, which is difficult to remove from the petals, so returning the product to its original appearance will be problematic.

6. Flowers look perfect in photographs ; it is unlikely that anyone at first glance will be able to distinguish them from real ones.

7. The weight of such a bouquet is very small , so it is very convenient for the bride.

8. Products made from polymer clay can also complement the bride’s jewelry and can serve as accessories for decorating a banquet hall.

And for the traditional ritual of throwing the bride’s bouquet, they prudently prepare a similar bouquet of fresh flowers.

The only drawback of the bouquet is its fragility.

If the accessory is dropped, it will no longer be possible to pick it up.

Tools for modeling from polymer clay

  • Surface to work on. You can take a flat and perfectly even board made of glass or plastic, tiles or ceramics.
  • Knife. Suitable for both stationery and construction. Have spare blades on hand.
  • An acrylic rolling pin is very convenient for rolling out clay.
  • A syringe and various attachments with which you can make various stripes and floral elements.
  • Forms for cutting out shapes (cutters).
  • Stacks.
  • Polymer clay.
  • Varnish for polymers.
  • Brushes of different sizes.
  • Toothpicks.
  • Napkins.
  • Fittings.

Before starting work, the clay needs to be kneaded well.

First, wash your hands well, as clay perfectly absorbs various contaminants. Keep your work area clean too.

Tie up your hair or put a scarf on your head. Apply talc to the clay to prevent debris from sticking to it. Calculate the amount of clay correctly, because colored clay has a short shelf life. When the clay dries out, don’t lose heart, just add regular hand cream to the material, but not a lot. Be careful with clay products - they are quite fragile. Store the packaging with the material only when it is closed. To ensure that the clay serves you for a long time, place a damp cloth there.

Disadvantages of polymer clay accessories

  • Deco clay polymer clay is afraid of water, so it cannot be wet. But a little rain or snow will not damage the product at all; if it gets wet, it is simply recommended to put it in a dry place and allow it to dry.
  • Products made from polymer clay require careful handling, but this does not mean that it is very fragile. For example, if the product falls, nothing will happen to it, it’s been verified!

    The fragility of the product depends on the type of flower; if it is a flower based on a bud, for example a ranunculus, then it is not afraid at all, but if it is a chamomile, then you need to be careful, since its petals are thin and separate.

  • A bouquet made of clay should not be thrown to your girlfriends. If it falls hard, it can still be damaged, besides, it is better to keep such beauty as a souvenir by throwing your girlfriends a duplicate bouquet of fresh, fabric or paper flowers.

Bride's bouquet made of polymer clay as an alternative to fresh flowers

Coming up with an alternative to fresh flowers in wedding arrangements has already become a certain kind of tradition. All this is done for aesthetic and practical reasons, because hand-made flowers are in no way inferior in appearance to real living ones, but have a number of characteristics that can be useful to the bride. Fresh flowers always bring a feeling of celebration, life, romance, tenderness. But they fade irrevocably, and it is difficult to do anything about it, and therefore even ardent adherents of traditional bouquets are beginning to think about alternative options. Clay has a lot to offer.

So as not to offend anyone

A wedding is a joyful event not only for the newlyweds, but also for the guests. In order not to deprive all unmarried girls of playful pleasure, especially if there are only 2-3 of them left, you can give a bouquet to everyone. The situation is saved by a large, chic bouquet, which, if desired, can be easily divided into parts. Before throwing flowers, the bride just needs to untie the ribbon and she will have three bouquets in her hands at once, which she will throw without looking at her surprised and happy girlfriends. The whole beauty of this idea is its unexpectedness; don’t let anyone else know about your planned plan, and everything will go as well as possible.

Editor's choice: How to have a wedding inexpensively and beautifully

European roots of tradition

The custom of throwing a bouquet behind one’s back, rather than passing it in a round dance, came from Europe. There, the bride's outfit was also considered to bring good luck. And unmarried ladies believed in this so much that they tried to tear off at least a small piece from the bride’s dress. Can you imagine what it looked like after the holiday?

Naturally, the brides soon got tired of this, and they wanted to keep the wedding dress as a talisman that would bring good luck. Then it was invented to attach flowers to the dress, which guests were allowed to carefully remove for good luck. It was not very convenient to pin flowers to the outfit, and then the brides began to pick up a wedding bouquet, which they did not mind throwing to their bridesmaids at the end of the wedding.

Choosing an unconventional accessory, its pros and cons

When choosing an accessory, you should pay attention to its weight, number of colors, and the presence of sharp parts. No sharp stems or imitation thorns, even if the bouquet is made up of “roses”

The bride should be comfortable. The color is chosen according to your own taste to match the dress.

Bouquets made of polymer clay have advantages compared to accessories made from fresh flowers:

  • They don't fade;
  • During the holiday, you don’t have to worry that the flowers will fade and the photo in the bride’s hands will show something that doesn’t correspond to the festive mood;
  • Such decorations sometimes look more attractive than classic ones. The colors are brighter, the flowers from which they are made are more original. Bouquet makers are not limited to the choice of flower shop assortment.

The disadvantage of polymer clay for flower bouquets is that it is a rather fragile material. If the accessory is dropped, it will no longer be possible to pick it up.

What about the traditional catching of the bride's bouquet? Prudent brides take care of this ritual in advance, purchasing a simpler bouquet, but made from living plants. But in the photo there is a wonderful bouquet in the hands of the bride.

Making flowers from polymer clay

Some people believe that an artificial accessory at a wedding is a bad omen. Long-lasting flowers are a symbol of eternal memory. They have no place at a wedding. Anyone who thinks so buys natural flowers.

It is not necessary to make a bouquet of scarlet or white roses from polymer clay and hold them in your hands during a special event. These flowers would look more appropriate on the hood of a car.

The fashion for decorating a vehicle has not changed for many years. By the way, English brides used to decorate cab doors with clay plants back in the 12th century.

Master class on making roses

It is necessary to prepare the following materials in advance:

  • polymer clay;
  • stationery knife;
  • stack;
  • rubber gloves that fit the hands;
  • toothpick or thin knitting needle;
  • a flat wooden board, similar to a hot stand.

Without a level stand it will be impossible to sculpt. Not everyone can feel the material in gloves.

If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty, you can sculpt without wearing protective equipment:

  • To begin with, a ball of such a size is separated from the material that it will later be enough for a petal. The amount of clay depends on the future size of the flower;
  • The ball is rolled, warmed in the hand, then kneaded so that a thin, flat and even - if possible - oval is obtained;
  • The plate is twisted into a loose tube diagonally, giving it the shape of a pink oblong petal. This will be the core of the future rose;
  • A semblance of the core of a rose bud is put on a toothpick.

The remaining petals are made in exactly the same way as the first, only the sizes change - each next petal is slightly larger than the previous one. All petals are adjusted to each other, tightly placing one on top of the other. The circle should be even.

Corners are formed on the outer petals, this way a more accurate imitation of a rose is achieved. Now you need to sculpt a sepal and several pink leaves.

You need to act according to the already known order:

  • Make a small ball;
  • Create an oval out of it by rolling it into a thin plate;
  • Using the end of a toothpick, apply embossed veins to the leaf;
  • Bend the edges so that the cup looks “lifelike.”

Then the sculpted leaf is placed on the bud, covering the lower part of the finished inflorescence.

The process will have to be repeated 4-5 times, this is how many sepals a real rose has.

Then they roll out the polymer material thinly and wrap it around a toothpick to create a stem. Leaves formed according to the described algorithm are attached to it.

If white clay was used for the flowers, they then need to be painted with acrylic paint. In this process you can no longer do without gloves. Paint the products after the material has dried.

We choose the colors that we want. It is not necessary to stick to the traditional “pink” color. However, now flower growers have learned to grow roses of all colors and shades: ultramarine, green, even black. On average, you need to spend about an hour on 1 flower.

Focus on peonies

We will need:

  • self-hardening polymer clay in white, red and green colors;
  • acrylic mold for creating leaves;
  • floral tape;
  • base for boutonniere;
  • pins with transparent heads;
  • special float wire (although you can take a regular one and just cover it with tape);
  • satin tape;
  • PVA glue.

To begin, knead a piece of white clay and a small piece of red clay well. Then mix them to get a pink color.

We divide the resulting piece into 20 parts measuring 1 cm and 12 parts measuring 1.5 cm.

Let's start forming the petals. To do this, we form a droplet from each piece, then flatten the thick edge, stretching it from the center to the edges and giving it a concave shape.

Now you need to connect the petals in pairs according to the principle of large to large, small to small. In this case, they are attached with a slight offset on the sides. How to do it correctly, look at the photo below.

Now we connect the smaller petal blanks into a fan. Then we twist it into a spiral.

We attach pairs of large petals around the formed bud.

Set the flower aside to dry. For now, let's take care of the leaves. Let's combine green plastic and white to get a light green shade. Then add a little green, but do not mix completely, so as to get a splash. We form a drop that is already familiar to us and apply it to the form. Then carefully detach the workpiece.

We shape the sheet, narrowing both ends. We make several pieces of different sizes.

Now you need to make closed peony buds. To do this, take the remains of the pink plastic and add red to it, and just like for the leaves, do not mix it in completely. Roll into a ball about 2 cm in diameter.

From the remaining green clay we form two or three cakes. We paste them over the pink ball.

Choose the number of open flowers and buds yourself, sticking to the odd number. It all depends only on your desire and imagination.

We collect the bouquet when it is ready; the stems together can be wrapped with floral tape, and on top with a matching satin ribbon.

Containers for artificial flowers

An artificial bouquet made by yourself can stand in different containers:

  • In pots. Classic option.
  • In vases. It will look very original if you fill a glass vase with smooth pebbles and multi-colored balls.
  • In wicker baskets. They look very cute and cozy.
  • In a flowerpot. A cover, for example, a knitted one, is put on the pot, and it is hung from the ceiling by a loop.
  • In bottles or glasses (suitable for miniature compositions).

In addition to beautiful decorative compositions, you can make a bouquet of artificial flowers with your own hands for a beautiful bride or simply as an interior decoration. Below we will look at the most interesting ideas.
