10 ways to tie a decorative bow on a chair

01/11/2016 To add solemnity to any banquet or event, festive hall decoration techniques are used. The main design object is the chairs. They are usually present at banquets to celebrate weddings, anniversaries, corporate events, birthdays and other celebrations. Covers and bows can be used to decorate them, and they can decorate the chair either together or separately. The decoration of a chair can be compared to a man’s uniform: with a cover - think in a shirt, with a cover and a bow - in a shirt and tie (bow), but just a bow - figure it out yourself...

This article describes all the basic techniques for decorating chairs: half cover and cover, bow, stretch bandage, ribbon, brooch, etc. Let's start with the most common and beautiful options.

Half-case

A half-cover can be used instead of a full cover or tied over it. The latter is done for a number of reasons: a) when dimensionless full covers or covers of a larger size or different shape than the chair are used; b) when a half-cover made of transparent colored fabric is tied over a full white cover to give a color tone; c) to add pomp and volume at luxurious banquets. In all other cases, a half-cover is enough to decorate a chair. It is tied onto the back of the chair and the bow is attached either in the middle of the back or at its base. In this case, the seat remains free, and the tail of the bow, if long enough, can reach the legs of the chair.

On folding chairs that are used for on-site registration, the half-cover can be tied inside the backrest by tying the upper and lower (on the chair leg) crossbar (as shown in the figure).

Let's start making

Making an organza bow takes almost five minutes. All you need is a couple of available materials, the organza material itself, a little patience and creativity. But before you get started, it’s worth considering that there are a couple of varieties of bows, which, although not significantly, still differ from each other. The answer to the question of how to make an organza bow lies in the answer to the question of how much creativity and creativity you have.

The first type is a lush bow, which is made from individual organza petals. The peculiarity of making this bow is that it is made from separate pieces of material. But this does not mean that the manufacturing task has become more complicated. You will need: glue, scissors, a clip (a clothespin may work), ribbon for decoration (optional), a candle. There is no need to provide separate instructions for making such a bow, since here it is a matter of creativity and desire.

The second type is a bow without using scissors. In its manufacture, it is as simple as the previous representative, but still has its differences. To make it you need: a needle and thread, glue, a lighter and, of course, organza. The manufacturing process has its own characteristics, namely that the edges of the material must be singed, a needle and thread must be passed through the folds of the material and periodically pulled towards the middle, while bending the material itself. This is how balls and a layer of organza are created, the ends of which are glued to the common middle. Just as we see, it’s a matter of creativity.

And finally, the last representative is a bow in the shape of something, most often a flower. Here it’s worth working not only with your head, but also with your hands, since the work in this case is very sensitive. You will need: beads, a sheet of paper (for making a template), pins, pencil, needles, beads. First of all, you should make a template for your petals from paper, make the blanks themselves from organza, gradually wrap them inside for the desired shape, and plus, decorate the whole thing with beads or something else.

How to tie a bow on a wedding chair with your own hands

Weddings may differ in style, color scheme and theme. The only thing that remains constant at every celebration is chairs decorated with fabric bows. This element of the banquet hall has long become the hallmark of any wedding.

Neatly tied bows on wedding chairs complement the overall stylistic ensemble and emphasize the solemnity of the setting. How can you not take advantage of this miracle of decorative skills to decorate your own wedding?

Bandage

A headband, unlike a bow, does not have a knot or a bow itself. As a rule, it is a stretch material with a brooch in the middle. The fabric used is mainly elastic for the universal applicability of the product - to fit most chairs. Without a cover it looks beautiful only on straight backs; if the back of the chair is concave, then the bandage will accordingly have a void on the inner radius of the back of the chair. Headbands are made using a decorative buckle and come in a variety of shapes and colors. When putting on the headband, the buckle can be either inside the chair or outside. The option of tying a chair with a buckle secured to the edge of the back is not excluded. The headband can be attached anywhere on the back, it all depends on the shape of the chair and the overall interior design.

The tie belt can be made from any strong decorative material, for example, a rhinestone ribbon, soft decorative fabric, a composition of artificial flowers, etc. The belt should be beautiful and its main purpose is to close the seam (knot) of the bandage.

Attaching New Year's wreaths

The New Year has long been associated with New Year's wreaths, because this is a universal way of festive decoration. Wherever we hang them! Yes, and on chairs too! They will be somewhat smaller than those that usually hang on a door or window, but no less elegant. Note that there is a lot of scope for creativity here, because in order to make a wreath with your own hands, you can use both real and artificial flowers, branches, berries and any other decorative elements. It is usually tied to a ribbon or twine behind a chair, for example, as in our photos.

Ribbon

One of the simplest options for decorating a chair with a bow is to use a satin ribbon. Ribbons can be of different widths from 3 to 12 cm. There are variations in the use of a combination of ribbons of different widths and different colors by applying a thinner one to a wider one. A satin ribbon 10-12 cm wide, when tied into a bow and well straightened, looks almost like a specially made satin bow. There are, however, some nuances, for example, the bows are not voluminous enough, so often a flower or brooch is attached to the satin ribbon at the place of the bunch.

The ribbon is tied tightly enough so that it does not fall off; if you are using a brooch and the ribbon is put on top of the case, you can use the technique of pinning the ribbon on the back side to the case.

A fairly common technique is to use ribbons of different widths, with the wider ribbon being the color that highlights the holiday, and the smaller ribbon matching the color of the cover or chair.

Types of bows

Bows for wedding chairs can be made from almost any fabric. However, the most popular materials are crepe-satin, satin, organza and tulle voile.

Recently, it has become fashionable to tie lace bows on chairs. If the wedding reception is held outdoors, and folding wooden chairs are used, light, flowing satin or transparent tulle veil are better suited as the fabric for the bow.

On iron chairs, a bow made of dense textile material will look more harmonious. To make a bow, you usually need a piece of fabric 2.5–2.7 cm long and about 20 cm wide.

However, dimensions may vary depending on the model, size of the chair and the technique used to make the bow. Let's look at each of them in more detail.

Classical

Classics never go out of fashion. So, to decorate chairs at weddings, it is the classic technique of creating a bow that is most often used.

It is very easy to tie and no less easy to untie - this is the main advantage of this option. A classic bow made of tulle or chiffon goes well with covers made of cotton fabric. Usually at weddings they use white material for sewing chair covers.

In this case, any other color of the bow will contrast with the overall color of the chair. Bright, matte shades of satin or organza look very impressive on a white background. However, lighter and lighter colors such as pink, soft blue, and beige are more often used at weddings.

Brooch

A flower brooch or hairpin made from other floral materials can be used to decorate chairs in a cover or semi-cover. The brooch can be attached to the case using pins, or secured using an elastic belt.
