A story about how they spent the winter at the Pushkin Museum-Reserve

Wedding at the Zakharovo-Vyazemy estate

The estates of Zakharovo and Vyazema near Moscow are called Pushkin’s poetic homeland - after all, he spent his childhood here. Arriving in these places, you can not only wander along the paths of ancient parks where the great poet walked and breathe this magical air, but also touch the silent witnesses of the poet’s childhood - magnificent architectural monuments, which are united into an entire palace and park ensemble of the 16th-19th centuries : Church of the Transfiguration, belfry of the late 16th century, a palace and two wings of the 18th century, outbuildings, parks, ponds of the 16th-19th centuries. In total, there are more than 20 historical and cultural monuments on the territory of Vyazem.

In Zakharov, a pond, part of the park, glorified by Pushkin, has been preserved. In 1999, the manor house of Maria Alekseevna Gannibal, A. S. Pushkin’s maternal grandmother, was restored, where the museum of the great poet’s childhood is located.

Excursions are held around the Pushkin Museum-Reserve, expositions and exhibitions are open. There are three museums on the territory of the reserve. Every Sunday from September to April, musical evenings and concerts are held in the fireplace hall of the palace.

Theater wedding

In Vyazemy, in addition to regular excursions, many events are held, and among them, of course, not the last place is occupied by theatrical wedding excursions in the museum, which have become a good tradition.

The housekeeper, who is also a tour guide, introduces the newlyweds and wedding guests to the sights of the museum. The excursion is aimed at communicating the main thing in an entertaining and accessible way, befitting a joyful wedding event. Wedding guests will also be treated to festive surprises. After all, both Pushkin’s poetry and the very atmosphere of the holiday encourage play and invention and riddles.

The excursionists (who are also participants in the holiday) in historical costumes will see like revived faces from the past - the prototype of the Queen of Spades, Princess Natalya Petrovna Golitsyna, the uncle of the great poet - Vasily Lvovich Pushkin. In addition to the great poet's contemporaries, participants in the theatrical wedding will also include people from the Russian Middle Ages - Boris Godunov and his wife Maria Grigorievna.

Opposite the palace, in the garden under the arches of the tent, a table will be set where the newlyweds and wedding guests will be invited. And the museum staff, having congratulated the newlyweds and wished them many happy years, take their leave in order to honor the private life of the newlyweds, as well as their guests and relatives.

Wolf weddings in the Sayano-Shushensky Nature Reserve

In February, the rutting season begins for wolves; they actively move around the territory of the reserve, going beyond the boundaries of their packs.

Wolves are monogamous animals, they form permanent pairs until the death of one of the spouses, and live in a pack. In addition to the parents, in a wolf family there are puppies that have not yet turned a year old - arrived ones, as well as over-one-year-old wolves - over-aged ones. As the offspring mature, the females are the first to be expelled from the family; the males leave the flock by the end of the second year of life, although they may continue to maintain family ties.

On the territory of the Sayano-Shushensky Nature Reserve, habitat areas of wolf packs and hunting grounds of the species are confined to the southern macroslope of the Sayan Range, from the river basin. Sarly to the south, to the border of the reserve. This is an area with relatively little snow, and it is the height of the snow cover that limits the habitat of red deer and roe deer, potential victims of the predator. In summer, non-family wolves are found throughout the reserve, including the river basin. Naked, by winter they move to the southern, part of the territory with little snow.

In some, the snowiest years, the border of the winter habitat of wolves, following the ungulates, shifts to the south, most of the predators concentrate in the river basin. Big Cheers. During the rutting season, the northern territories adjacent to the reservoir can be briefly visited by rutting flocks on the ice of the reservoir - rutting flocks travel wider than the family hunting area, including entering the reservoir territory.

The rutting season is an important time in the life of wolves. During this period, the flock moves both day and night with short stops to rest. The pack is led by a she-wolf, the seasoned one follows closely behind her, and the rest of the males, arranged by rank. From time to time, males from the retinue, running from the side, try to approach the she-wolf, but the warning growl of the dominant male stops these attempts. After the end of the rut, alien wolves leave the pack, while newcomers, on the contrary, return to it. If, towards the end of the rut, the overheated female begins to come into heat, a new rutting pack may form, consisting of this female and single males of the previous rutting pack. The newly formed flock eventually leaves the parental area, and the newly formed married couple looks for a free area.

“Visually, we see wolves more often in winter. The flocks move briskly and gracefully across the ice surface of the reservoir. In winter, wolves are especially beautiful. We always stop to watch them and take photographs whenever possible,” say the reserve staff. Recently, members of a scientific expedition returned from the territory of the reserve, and Roman Afanasyev, a senior researcher, head of the scientific department, shared a video with wolves, which he shot with a camera. In the video, several predators are climbing the slope.

O often end up in the lens of camera traps - sometimes a series of pictures are obtained where flocks of 7-9 individuals pass by the trap, sometimes wolves look into the camera with curiosity, and sometimes they seem to be deliberately posing. All this material, “spiked” from nature with the help of modern technology, is of particular value. Such photographs and videos demonstrate the natural behavior of animals in nature.

For the Sayano-Shushensky Nature Reserve, the wolf is a common species that plays a significant role in the ecosystems of the specially protected natural area. The rut will soon end, and in May the females will give birth to wolf cubs - a new generation of proud, noble predators.

Arkhangelskoye Estate

This palace and park ensemble was formed from the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 19th century. Arkhangelskoye is located in the Krasnogorsk region near the oxbow of the Moscow River, a couple of kilometers southwest of Krasnogorsk. Currently, the territory of the estate is divided into two zones: one, which includes the palace, is surrounded by a fence, it is guarded and there is a paid entrance, and the other, which includes the Apollo Grove and the Gonzago Theater, which remains open to the public and is not guarded by anyone . These two territories are separated by Ilyinsky Highway.

The formation of the architectural and park ensemble in Arkhangelsk was due to the dominance of the classicism style, which drew beauty standards from ancient art. Therefore, restrained balance and strict logic prevail here, thanks to which the Arkhangelsky palace and park resemble Italian gardens of the Renaissance period or French regular parks, and its groves seem to have been sketched into the picture of the surrounding area by the brush of an English landscape architect.

A significant element of the park is the Grand Parterre - a spacious rectangle (70x240 m), which is surrounded by alleys and green trellises, alternating with marble statues, currently under restoration. A powerful and noble-looking free space is formed here. In earlier times, even the flower beds in the park corresponded to the general style of Arkhangelsk, which framed the flat surface of the stalls, forming a bright colored border on their green carpets.

Serednikovo Estate

The Serednikovo estate in the past belonged to the Vsevolozhskys and Stolypins, and is a park and estate ensemble at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries. This is one of the places in Russia associated with the life of M. Lermontov.

At the end of the last century, the estate found itself in a deplorable state, until in 1992 it was rented for 49 years by the Lermontov Heritage Association, headed by a descendant of the great poet through his cousin. The association carried out a partial restoration in the estate, as a result of which exhibition areas and a Sunday school appeared here. The estate complex is also rented out for various events and celebrations. To this day, 3 stone bridges have been preserved on the territory of Serednikovo. Numerous television series and films were filmed here, from which numerous sets have been preserved, which became the basis for the exhibition complex “Pilgrim Porto Film City”.
