A girl named Surbhi suffered a heart attack while exchanging garlands with her groom Mangesh Kumar as part of a Hindu wedding tradition. She lost consciousness, and the doctor who arrived at the scene pronounced her dead. But instead of stopping the wedding ceremony and canceling the celebration, the families of both parties agreed to replace the deceased bride with her younger sister Nisha. During the celebrations, Surbhi's body was kept in a separate room and she was later cremated.
We remember the wedding dresses from the series “Clone”: Ivete’s is strange, and Zhadi’s is chic
The series “Clone” continues to be the most popular Brazilian soap opera in Russia. And even though almost 20 years have passed since the premiere, it’s always interesting to remember what the wedding dresses of your favorite heroines looked like.
The series “Clone” became popular not only due to its original plot; the melodrama is simply replete with bright fashion trends. Jade brought bright eye makeup and winged eyeliner into fashion, and Ivete popularized sexy maxi dresses made of silk. But, of course, the greatest interest of the audience was caused by the wedding dresses of the main characters.
Perhaps the most discussed bridal images were from Zhadi. The heroine managed to get married twice: first there was a gorgeous ceremony with Said, and then a rather sudden one with Zane. Interestingly, Zhadi chose similar dresses for both events. These are closed snow-white outfits, richly decorated with embroidery and rhinestones.
And yet the image at the ceremony with Said was more gorgeous. Costume designers selected elegant accessories for Zhadi: long earrings, a tiara with precious stones and necklaces. It’s only a pity that at the ceremony the heroine looked upset: after all, she dreamed of marrying Lucas, not Said.
Latifa had a similar wedding outfit. Unlike Zhadi, her sister wanted to marry Mohamed, so she looked very happy at the ceremony. The costume designers chose for her an elegant white dress with long sleeves, decorated with embroidery. The bride wore a crown on her head. The highlight of the look was the long train.
And let’s remember another wedding in Muslim traditions that took place in the final episodes. We are talking about the holiday of Uncle Ali and Zoraide. For this ceremony, the bride chose a very strange dress. We are talking about a white dress with a loose fit, which was complemented with a gold cape and massive accessories. Around Zoraide’s neck there were beads, precious chains and strange pendants that absolutely did not fit with the rest of her outfit. But the bride seemed very happy.
But let's finish with weddings in Morocco and move on to festive ceremonies in Rio. Maiza had one of the most sophisticated wedding images. The costume designers chose an elegant classic A-line dress with a deep neckline for the actress. There is a long veil and a crinoline. In a word, the classic image of a bride is relevant at all times.
Another audience favorite, Ivete, also chose a classic dress for her first wedding with Armando. This white outfit with an open neckline and a small veil would suit anyone except Ivete. The fact is that throughout the series the heroine chose the most daring outfits. This same image seemed alien, too simple for fashionista Ivete.
But at the wedding with the Little Lion, Vera Fisher’s heroine already shone in a sexy red dress. The outfit with thin straps and an open back suited the character perfectly. For this look, Yvete did not choose a veil: instead, she decorated her hair with an arrangement of artificial flowers.
Of course, there were other equally striking weddings in the cult series, but it is the outfits listed that are immediately remembered by fans of “Clone.” It’s also interesting that even 20 years later, some of these images seem quite relevant.

In Europe and the United States, wedding fashion in the early 1940s was influenced by the previous decade. In the 1930s, Madeleine Vionnet invented bias cut, which made it possible to sew dresses that fit the figure quite tightly, using thin fabrics - silk, satin. Now the material could flow, creating graceful flounces and draperies. Wedding fashion has taken all this into account. Dresses of the 1940s were predominantly made of satin, were long and flowing, and had soft and slightly widened sleeves (photos 1, 2). However, the harsh wartime made its own adjustments. Fashion experienced a strong military influence, becoming noticeably stricter: the shoulder line acquired rigidity, cutouts tended towards clear geometry, and references to the theme of military uniforms appeared. All this is also reflected in wedding fashion. Dresses with turn-down collars and rows of buttons, associated with a uniform, became more common (photo 5).

The required elements were a bouquet, a wreath and a long veil. Fashion magazines offered ladies an alternative in the form of hats, but only the most advanced brides decided on them (photo 4). The thing is that a wreath of orange flowers - orange blossom - has long been considered an indispensable attribute of the bride, symbolizing her purity and innocence. Of course, most often it was artificial and only imitated a blossoming orange (photo 3).

By 1945, the wedding dress of the sophisticated bride had to combine retro elements and new trends. Short sleeves, collars, and long rows of buttons might appear, but traditions were still strictly observed (photo 5). The dress was always white, made of satin and always accompanied by a wreath and bouquet, which visually referenced each other. Thus, if on the head there was a wreath of orange flowers with sharp leaves, one would certainly have a bouquet of a similar floral geometry in one’s hands.

First, let's plunge into the atmosphere of good old films and TV series from the 80s and 90s. What dresses there were then! Now, of course, they no longer look so beautiful, but they bring a kind smile to your face.

Kathy Griffin - in the series "Unpredictable Susan":
Maybe someone remembers the series “Doctor Queen: The Female Doctor”. And, of course, the main character - Jane Seymour:

Who is this mysterious Gilda, whom the Lion Cub admired and in whose likeness Yvette took the glove off her hand with her teeth during the wedding?
Yvette is one of the most controversial heroines of the series “Clone”. A woman with a kind soul, but too impulsive, and sometimes even promiscuous. She does not admit that she is to blame for her short-term relationship with Diogu, the son of her beloved “Lion Cub”. Ivetti says that what happened between them was just a “flash” and not betrayal at all. She didn’t love Dioga. Ivetti had exactly the same outbursts more than once. Who invented Yvette?
The series writer, Gloria Perez, talked about how she found the character of Yvete. This was in 1997, when she was writing the script for the future TV series “Clone”. At the hairdresser, she accidentally overheard a conversation between two women sitting next to her. They were discussing a certain acquaintance of theirs - a bright woman, but vulgar and promiscuous, although with a huge kind heart. Gloria adopted this image and embodied it in her script. According to her, many people are familiar with women with such character and temperament. They are not uncommon in any society.
Yvette herself had her own female idol in the film, one might say, imposed by the Lion Cub. It was a certain Gilda. Remember, Yvette specifically chose a wedding dress with a style like that of a certain Gilda from the movie that Leonidas liked, and when she got married in church with Armando, she specially took off the glove from one hand with her teeth and began to twirl it in her hand. According to her, this same Zhilda did exactly the same thing. Yvette thought that this gesture of hers would force the Lion Cub to prevent her wedding.
