Wedding in Italy: 4 beautiful projects for 2021

Modern newlyweds prefer to combine the wedding ceremony with a honeymoon. Standard weddings are no longer as popular as they used to be, as young people now strive to break away from boring and similar celebrations in order to make the beginning of their family life unique and unforgettable. A wedding in Italy is the most popular destination, because the backdrop for a romantic wedding can be picturesque lakes with luxurious villas, wine plantations in the countryside, white sand beaches and palace squares in Rome.

Traditions and customs of weddings in Italy

Along with Italy's rich folklore, wedding traditions reflect the passion and emotion of this nation. An Italian wedding begins with the engagement of the newlyweds in the bride's house. The groom asks the hand of his chosen one not from her father, as is customary in other countries, but from her mother. After receiving permission, the newlyweds are prohibited from seeing each other until the wedding ceremony. Then the organization of the celebration is carried out by matchmakers, under whose strict guidance the well-known wedding procedure of ransom takes place, then farewell to the bride’s parents and a trip to the wedding site with songs and dances.

After marriage, the most interesting thing begins: champagne and wine flow like a river, and the tables are crowded with numerous dishes for which Italy is famous throughout the world. Superstitious couples to this day try to get married at the end of summer or autumn on any Sunday. It is believed that this is the most favorable time for a wedding celebration. Remembering ancient traditions, it is worth mentioning the custom that the newlyweds of Ancient Rome observed: during the entire honeymoon, the newlyweds must eat honey so that their entire life together would be sweet.

Preparing such weddings is one of our favorite activities. Firstly, a symbolic wedding gives unlimited scope for imagination to brides, grooms and organizers. Secondly, such a holiday is unique; in its creation we move step by step, relying only on the desires of the young couple. No templates! Thirdly, a symbolic wedding in Italy does not require the preparation of official documents, which means that the bride and groom spend their time and money on other things. The emphasis is on music, decor, and of course the solemn speech, which reveals the deep feelings of the newlyweds for each other. Judge for yourself: the official ceremony and wedding in Italy are determined by many different “musts”. You need to come to the mayor's office and submit an application, you need to confess and take communion with a priest, you need to wear the appropriate dress and do the appropriate hairstyle, the musical repertoire is also limited, but what to do if the groom cannot imagine appearing in public wearing a tie and listening to the Mendelssohn march?..

Against this background, a symbolic wedding has 10 advantages:

  • It can be arranged at any time, even at night. The vast majority of municipalities in Italy hold the last registration at 18.00, then they close. But in the summer, the heat gives way to coolness in the evening, and many couples really want to have a romantic ceremony, for example, at sunset a few hours later. Only a symbolic wedding provides such an opportunity.
  • It can be done almost anywhere: on the beach, on a boat, on a Ferris wheel, on an observation deck with a beautiful view, or in a garden. Of course, behind this will be the delicate work of the organizers, aimed at obtaining permission for the ceremony in the place you like. But that’s their concern; the main thing is that you get exactly what you chose.
  • For a symbolic wedding in Italy, you appoint the officiant yourself. When you contact the mayor's office for official marriage registration, you do not have such an advantage. The ceremony can be performed by one of your friends, or perhaps by the father or mother of the bride or groom. Dozens of officiants who speak English, Russian, Hebrew, and other languages offer their services on the Italian wedding market...
  • The text of the ceremony is compiled individually, and for each couple it is an opportunity to open up to the guests, and sometimes to each other. Often, in the process of working on a speech, the bride and groom understand what moments became key in their love story, and remember what they would not otherwise remember. Some want the ceremony to be held in Italian with translation into Russian. Others order a whole performance, during which the groom, dressed as a knight, saves the bride, a beautiful girl, and at the end of the curtain proposes his hand and heart to her. And still others want to tell their love story to the guests invited to the wedding.
  • A pleasant moment - the outfits of grooms, brides and their guests at a symbolic wedding can be anything you want. More often than not, it’s a classic bride’s dress and an elegantly dressed groom. But... there are also weddings in swimsuits entwined with flowers, as well as in medieval costumes, if we are talking about a ceremony in a castle...
  • Music is selected at your discretion. The composition and number of musicians, as well as what and at what point they will play, are determined only by you. Our brides walked down the aisle to both Wagner's wedding march performed by a gentle harp and to the melody from the film “The Singles Are Accommodated,” played by a small orchestra.
  • A symbolic ceremony is the only type of wedding for which you do not need witnesses. You can come to Italy together and take with you someone who will declare you husband and wife. This concludes the circle of invitees. This will be a wedding just for you...
  • A symbolic wedding in Italy can be themed from start to finish. For example, in the style of “Alice in Wonderland” - then the organizers fit the action, guests’ outfits and decor into a fairy tale and the holiday takes all participants to Through the Looking Glass, where rabbits and smiling cats can live
