For those who work with acrylic, we have prepared a selection of three training videos. From them you will learn the secrets of quickly laying out acrylic on tips and forms with minimal cutting, and also see how professionals lay out a smile the first time.

Top 12 ways to do a French manicure without stripes
It’s not necessary to chase all over the city for adhesive stencils. In creating a classic coating, ordinary available tools that everyone has will help.
Native brush
You can paint a smile with the original brush that comes in the gel polish bottle. It is recommended to choose the thickest white varnish.
Application technique:
- First you need to make markings on the sides of the nail plate and in the center.
- Place a little color on the brush and lightly paint over the smile line. The trick here is to rotate your finger while keeping your hand still. This makes the bend much smoother.
- Don't forget to paint over the end with a large brush if the smile is deep. If you can’t get the brush out of the bottle, you can use a thin one.
Thin brush
When you don’t know how to make a French look evenly without stripes, a thin brush with long bristles will come to the rescue.
Technique:
- Apply colored coating to your nails. You need to let the base shade dry before the next steps.
- Make a mark and note the width of the smile.
- Select the center of the nail, where the lowest point will be, and place two points equidistant from it on the same plane - these are bends. The closer the dots are, the more curved the smile will be. This method is great for long nails.
- Mark equal points on both sides on the side bolsters.
- Connect them and fill the markings with white gel polish, smoothing out the corners at the same time.
Flat brush
The brush can be natural or synthetic. The second gives a clear outline, but leaves less material on the nail. And gel polish is too runny for her. This method is only suitable for thick materials.
A flat brush can be made from a native varnish brush. It is enough to blot it thoroughly in a napkin and press it a little on top.
Drawing a smile:
- Apply a layer of color to your nails.
- Saturate the brush with color and draw vertical lines at the side ridges, which will be the tendrils.
- Place the entire surface of the brush on the nail and carefully form a smile. There should be no excess material on it.
- Make the required number of layers to correct the even contour and remove minor errors.
- Cover with top.
Round brush
How to make a French without stripes using a round brush? Very easy. It is necessary to choose a model of medium length. The brush is capacious, so it picks up a sufficient amount of gel polish and leaves behind a smooth, uniform layer.
Drawing a smile:
- Cover your nails with camouflage. For color density, it is recommended to duplicate the layer.
- Mark a line of thickness along the length of the end, and then draw the mustache to the desired depth so that the smile line disappears smoothly.
- Carefully round the corners.
- Use a layer of topcoat to align the pattern with the main color.
Angled brush
In this method, it is necessary to completely remove the gel polish, and not smear it on the nail, so as not to create white stains. The brush should be slightly damp.
Each of these tools can be used to straighten the mustache, making smooth narrowing towards the end of the smile if it suddenly turns out to be too thick or the hand trembles.
The technique is quite simple:
- Apply camouflage gel polish to the tip, slightly wider than the future smile.
- Use an angled brush to remove excess varnish.
- Blot into white gel polish. Apply it to the nail at a slight angle, press lightly and draw the outline of a smile.
Dots
It is Dots who knows how to do a French manicure without stripes. This method is perfect for home users and for those who are uncomfortable drawing on their right hand. The beauty of the method is that there is no need to control the pressure.
It is more convenient to draw the mustache deeper with a small oval dot.
How to design:
- Apply a beige or light pink tone.
- To prevent the gel polish from floating and spreading, you can remove the sticky layer from the camouflage.
- It's worth making a mini-markup. It is necessary to determine the deepest point and height of the antennae.
- Transfer the white gel polish to the tip and slowly smooth out the smile with the dots.
- Cover with a layer of thick top.
Patch
The most unexpected, but available to everyone option. The edges of the most common patches have a perfectly rounded shape. This is an excellent replacement for stickers and stencils. Thanks to it, a French manicure without stripes turns out perfectly smooth even at home.
What you need to do:
- Cover your nails with camouflage polish in 2 layers.
- Take a regular patch and peel off the protective film.
- Seal the plate so that the tip of the nail remains. It is important to stick the patch only on completely dry polish, otherwise it will come off with the base color.
- Apply white varnish to the tip, let it dry and carefully peel off the patch.
- Cover with a layer of top.
Scotch tape and Scotch tape
The tape can be cut into thin semicircular strips. If this is difficult to do, it needs to be glued in an arc. And adhesive tape is a universal manicure item that can also be used to create a French manicure.
It's quite simple to do:
- Cover your nails with a nude color.
- Place tape or adhesive tape on the free edge and press it well against the plate.
- Use scissors to cut off a small edge so that you can grab it later.
- Paint part of the nail with white polish, without going beyond the boundaries of the tape.
- Let the white varnish dry.
- Grab the remaining edge and quickly peel off the tape.
- You need to choose a leveling top so that you can cover all the errors as much as possible and properly level the step from the smile.
Peel off
A film that protects the skin around the nail from varnish during a gradient will help you create a French manicure without stripes.
Required procedure:
- Cover your nails with a camouflage shade.
- Apply the film to the colored layer so that only the tip remains unpainted.
- When the film dries, coat the tip with white varnish.
- Remove the film with tweezers and apply a glossy topcoat to the finished design.
Stamping
There are plates with a pattern that perfectly follow the shape of a smile and are suitable for creating a French jacket. There are plates on which different shapes and sizes of smiles are immediately engraved; they greatly simplify the work. The pattern is transferred to the nail using the nail stamping technique.
What should be done:
- Cover your nails with pale pink or beige camouflage.
- Apply white gel polish to the smile-shaped plate.
- Use a stamp to stamp the surface of the plate and carefully transfer the design onto the nail.
- Cover the layer with top.
If you don't have the plate you need, no problem. You can draw a curved line on the stamp with gel polish or a brush and transfer it to your fingers. It is more difficult to paint on your own nails, especially for right-handed people on the right hand. And with a stamp it’s easy to create a French jacket without stripes.

Do you need a “smile” line on your nails?
If you want artificial nails to look natural, then the answer is: yes, definitely. The main difference between modern preparations for nail modeling is that artificial nails look natural, and no one even thinks about doubting their naturalness. Otherwise, the master’s work becomes meaningless. Because you can just buy false nails at any stall and refuse the services of a salon.
Many masters, in pursuit of quick money, have taken the wrong path, covering their nails with material of the same color. They forget that information is now available to everyone. Articles about professional competitions, photographs of artificial nails that became winners in one competition or another are no longer uncommon in our magazines. Such information is found not only in specialized publications. It reaches your clients, who can immediately question the professionalism of their master. Once such a thought arises, the client goes in search of the best. This is the first thing. And secondly, the number of salons and masters who can offer nail modeling services is increasing every day. And in order to be competitive, so that the client chooses your salon and you as a master, you should constantly care about the quality of the service offered. Having done one-color nails for a week without a “smile” line, the master simply will not be able to execute this line efficiently. Therefore, I will take the liberty of giving all masters advice: never do one-color nails, thinking that it’s still not visible under the varnish. This is the first step towards the end of your career as a professional.
French gel polish
Perhaps the optimal combination of speed, durability and affordable price is French gel polish . This procedure is also most convenient from the client’s point of view:
- Fast (up to 1 hour).
- There is no unpleasant odor, as, for example, with acrylic extensions.
- The natural nail is not filed down when applying and removing the coating
- The coating polymerizes in a matter of seconds, no need to wait for it to dry.
Why does shellac from some artists last for weeks, while for others the coating begins to crack and chip off already on the third day? It's all about the subtleties and secrets of technology. For those who want to overcome peelings and delight clients (or yourself, if you do your nails at home), we have prepared lessons on French manicure with photos.
Prepare the client's hands
Remove the old covering and treat the client's hands with a disinfectant.
Prepare your natural nail
To prevent peeling at the base of the nail, carefully push back the cuticle with an orange stick. To make your work easier, apply Color Couture Entity One Cuticle Oil to the border between the nail and the skin. If the cuticle is very grown and dry, give the client a trimmed or European manicure.
Shape the free edge of the nail
Using a CND Kanga Board natural nail file, shape the free edge into an oval or square according to the client’s wishes.
Clean and degrease the nail plate
Wipe nail plate with Entity One Natural Nail Prep using Graham HandsDown Nail Wipes. This stage is needed to remove dust from the surface after sawing the free edge, fat, cuticle particles and other contaminants. Only on perfectly clean nails does French gel polish last without peeling. Be careful not to accidentally touch the client's nails with your fingers after treatment. If this happens, wipe the nail with the product again.
If the client has so-called “wet nails,” then additionally apply Entity One Nail Dehydrator. How to identify such a detail? Ask her how regular polish holds up. If even professional brands of varnish “live” on the client’s hands for 1-2 days, then the reason may be the moisture of the nail plate. Treatment with a dehydrator in this case will help make the coating more durable.
Apply primer
The primer will increase the adhesion of the gel polish to the nail plate and extend the life of the manicure. To perform French with Entity One gel polishes, you can choose between the acidic Entity One Nail Primer - for healthy nails, and the acid-free Entity One Nu Bond - for weak and damaged nails.
Apply base coat
Entity Base Coat protects nails from staining with gel polish pigments, evens out the surface and has a positive effect on durability. Apply the base in a thin layer, making sure to seal the end of the nail. Cure the coating in a UV lamp for 2 minutes or 30 seconds in an LED lamp.
Cover your nail with camouflage
Apply 1 or 2 coats of Nude Fishnets Translucent Beige/Peach Camouflage Gel Polish from Entity One Color Couture. Cure each layer in a lamp - 120 seconds for a UV lamp and 30 seconds for an LED lamp.
Use Entity One Spotlight Gel Polish to create a smile line, making sure to seal the end of the nail. It is better to make a smile in two thin layers, polymerizing each: this way the coating will lie smoothly and without bubbles. The lamp exposure time is the same: 2 minutes for a UV lamp and half a minute for LED equipment.
Masters disagree on how to paint a smile during a French manicure with gel polishes: with a brush from a bottle or with a separate thin brush? In fact, both methods have a right to exist. We have recorded for you a master class on French manicure with shellac, which shows both technologies for removing a smile. Take a look to make it easier to decide.
Treat your nails with a top coat
Entity One Color Couture, Top Coat provides additional protection against fading, damage and chipping, seals previous layers and extends wear life. Apply the top very thinly, not forgetting to cover the end. Curing time is the same as previous products.
Remove the sticky layer
Entity One Nail Prep is suitable not only for preparing the nail plate, but also for removing the dispersion layer. Place liquid onto Graham HandsDown Nail Wipes and buff your nails.
Please note that the stickiness is removed only from the top, and it remains on the previous layers, which improves the adhesion of the layers to each other.
Finish your manicure with cuticle oil.
Cuticle oil Color Couture Entity One Cuticle Oil 15 ml will provide the skin with softening, nutrition and protection. The product is suitable for sensitive skin.

What is French manicure?
French is a real gift from the manufacturer of manicure products “ORLY”. But with French I was cruelly deceived. It is not known where this name came from, because it was created by an American after one director complained that actresses spend a lot of time taking care of their nails. But this doesn’t matter, the main thing is that now we have a universal manicure option that fits perfectly with any look.
The classic version of the French manicure is short nails that look natural and well-groomed, with a white rim and a base of a natural color - beige or pink.
Preparing for a manicure
When creating a French jacket, the main thing is to choose the right tools and materials. To create your own French manicure you will need:
- nail polish remover,
- metal pusher,
- file,
- orange stick,
- cuticles,
- cuticle liquid,
- polishing buff,
- base and top,
- nude and white varnishes,
- stencils.
All you have to do is be patient and diligent, then a great manicure will not keep you waiting.
Stencils
French
If you want to learn how to properly do a French nail and a smile on your nails, then you will need to purchase stencils for a French nail. These are special semicircular strips of paper with an adhesive backing. They are glued to the nail so as to separate the free edge from the nail bed, that is, their main width is located exactly on the pink part of the plate. Then the free edge is painted with white varnish and after it dries, the stencil is removed.
This is the only way to get a neat and perfect smile line. There is no other way to achieve such a flawless effect. However, you can try making a stencil yourself. This can be done, for example, from tape.
