Such marriage registration is unofficial and purely symbolic and assumes that at the time of the wedding celebration, you have already signed at the registry office and are legal spouses.
You can sign the day before, a few days BEFORE the wedding, or on the day of the celebration itself. And the ceremony itself is nothing more than a “theatrical show” for organizing a holiday. The entire ceremony is developed individually: the newlyweds themselves choose the host, music, theme of the holiday, etc.
Thus, marriage registration takes place without banal actions and acquires appropriate solemnity and romance.
Official part
The law established strictly defined cases in which future spouses are allowed to be registered outside the registry office. In this case, the registration is official; the newlyweds sign the book and receive a marriage certificate.
Traveling to organize such a procedure is allowed in cases where one or both newlyweds, for good reasons, cannot personally attend the registration. In practice, the following situations are most common.
- Serious disease.
In the event that one (less often both) future spouses cannot independently come to the wedding ceremony at the registry office due to serious illness, it is allowed to organize it in another place. This health condition must be confirmed by medical documents. Depending on where the patient is located, the formalization of the relationship can take place at home or in a medical institution.
A wedding with off-site official registration in the event of a serious illness of the bride or groom is carried out in a strictly formal manner. This means exclusively the painting procedure. The ceremony is not performed by the registry office employee.
- Being in custody.
Persons in custody retain the right to marry. Such citizens are deprived of the opportunity to leave their location determined by the court. Therefore, the law allows for on-site registration. In this case, marriage registration can take place in a pre-trial detention center or correctional colony.
These circumstances must be confirmed by a certificate from the place of detention. These institutions have special premises in which registry office employees carry out the registration procedure for married couples.
Its procedure is purely official. Ceremonial registration is not provided for these cases. It will also not be possible to invite guests or a photographer, since unauthorized persons are prohibited from entering sensitive facilities.
- Registration of marriage on the territory of cultural and historical sites.
Regional or municipal regulations allow registry office employees to be empowered to officially register couples on the territory of objects of cultural and historical significance. Their specific list is determined by local laws. At the moment, it is possible to hold ceremonies in this order only in Moscow.
- Other reasons.
The list of valid reasons for which exit registration is carried out is not limited by law. Therefore, when one of the spouses cannot appear in person at the registry office, it is necessary to submit documents confirming this fact.
The head of the registry office reviews the submitted certificates and other documents. Based on the results, a decision is made on whether the reason for failure to appear is valid and whether exit registration is allowed or not.
