Who and where can apply for marriage registration?
The basis for registering a marriage is an application that the bride and groom submit to the civil registry office (civil registry office). It can also be submitted through the MFC (Multifunctional) or online via the Internet.
An application for marriage registration can be submitted by persons who have reached the age of 18, with the exception of special cases (age from 16 to 18). In these cases, special permission from local authorities will be required to marry before reaching the age of marriage.
How to submit an application to the registry office online
After entering the site, click on the item “State registration of marriage” and on the page that opens, select method 2: Submitting an electronic application with the ability to book a time for registering a marriage at the selected civil registry office in St. Petersburg (without visiting the civil registry office to personally submit documents), with the possibility of paying state duty online. Be careful, choose this method with the option NOT to visit the registry office to submit documents in person.
Next, enter the user ID and fill in one by one information about the groom, information about the bride on special forms in which you must enter passport information, as well as other information about the bride and groom. Please note that fields marked with an asterisk must be completed. Otherwise, your application will not be accepted. You will have to fill out several pages of biographical information, including information about your place of birth, place of residence, information about previous marriages and information about changing your last name. After each provision of information, you must click the “Next” button, select the registry office in which you would like to register, as well as the date and time of the celebration and click the “Next” button.

The period established for registering a marriage is no less than 1 and no more than 2 months from the date of filing the application. The desired date and time of marriage registration are indicated by the applicants. If there are special circumstances, the marriage can be registered directly on the day of filing the application (pregnancy, birth of a child, etc.) or the registration period can be reduced or increased.
