Checkered manicure is one of the popular trends. It looks stylish and original and at the same time discreet. You can make this design yourself. Its idea is quite simple, but in combination with different colors and elements you can get an interesting result.
Varieties
There are several main types of nail designs that use this element:
- gingham;
- Scottish cell;
- Burberry;
- chess cage;
- tweed;
- quilted;
- broken cell.
Gingham is characterized by smooth, intersecting lines. Scottish plaid is distinguished by the intersection of lines of different widths. Burberry is characterized by the use of white, red and black colors to create stripes against a background of beige or brown.
Quilted is a voluminous type of manicure that copies the texture of upholstery fabric. The main difference between tweed design is the wear. The checkerboard is classic black and white. The polyline is also done in black and white, but using a slider.
Creation methods
You can perform this manicure using several methods. Use additional tools or do everything by hand - the choice depends on the complexity of the drawing. Each method has its own characteristics and a list of necessary devices.
Freehand drawing
It is believed that it is the most difficult to create such a pattern by hand. In this case, you can use any tools that have a thin tip:

- toothpick
You will also need varnishes for the base and drawing lines.
Regardless of the method chosen, you will first need to apply the base color. They choose white or any other light shade, but sometimes dark colors are also used. Wait until the base color is completely dry and only then start drawing lines.
Drawing thin and straight lines is not always easy, so it is recommended to first mark with dots.
If you are using lines of different colors, it is best to wait until the lines of one shade dry, and then apply stripes of a different color so that they do not mix.
Tape and stencil
If you really doubt your artistic skills, use tapes and stencils. With their help you can make any type of cell. The tapes can be peeled off after the work is completed, or they can be left as a decorative element.

- base varnish;

- it is not necessary to purchase special brushes or materials; it is quite possible to make a design using improvised means;
- This method of designing nails is always relevant and appropriate. It can be used for different events and at any age. It will fit well into both a party look and a business look;
- the season doesn't matter. Stylists recommend choosing cool shades for nails in winter, and brighter shades in summer. For this manicure, all these conditions are easily met, so it is only important to choose the right shades of varnish;
- This type of design looks equally good on both long and short nails, natural and extended ones.
Disadvantages can arise from choosing the wrong colors. Some combinations in the cage will seem provocative. A manicure overloaded with decorative elements also looks bad. This makes it tasteless.
The use of mirror rub and similar textured coatings is not recommended: this may make your nails look tacky and unattractive.
