Legislation

The regulation of marriage relations is quite clearly set out in the main Russian legal act - the Family Code.

All Russian family legislation is aimed at strengthening family ties, helping to build relationships on feelings of love, respect, responsibility for each other, while prohibiting outside interference.

Chapter 3 of the code is devoted to marriage, which sets out the rules and conditions for creating a social unit.

So in its 13th article it is stated that

The bride and groom can marry if they are both over 18 years of age. However, for good reasons, you can get married earlier - from the age of 16.

In regions, there may be local laws that allow marriages even earlier, but the reasons must still be valid.

Pregnancy is a valid reason to marry before adulthood.

Another legal act regulating the wedding ceremony contains relief for pregnant women: Law 143 “On Civil Status Acts”. It contains the rule that pregnancy can be a reason for early registration of marriage.

Registration deadlines

The general rules governing the creation of a family, namely paragraph 2 of Article 27 of the law, establish the period that must pass from the moment of filing the application to the day of registration: not less than a month.
However, there is a clause in Article 11 of the Family Code and Article 27 of Article 143 of the Law that the bride’s pregnancy provides grounds for shortening the waiting period for the wedding. The head of the local registry office decides how much to shorten the period, and his decision may be influenced by the condition of the bride. If, according to a doctor’s opinion, a woman may soon be admitted to a maternity hospital or hospital for safekeeping, the newlyweds may be registered even on the day of submitting the application. Only on condition that the application is signed personally by both the groom and the bride.

Features of organizing a wedding

Preparing a wedding is a troublesome task and is accompanied by constant worries. And as everyone knows, pregnant women shouldn’t be nervous. But this does not mean that a pregnant bride will have to give up the wedding of her dreams just because she cannot personally take care of all the preparatory issues.

The bride can buy her main outfit or have it made to order, but in any case it must meet certain requirements:

• the dress should be comfortable;
• You should give up tight-fitting styles, and also avoid outfits with a lot of skirts, nets, etc.;

If, due to pregnancy, you have to have a wedding in the winter, then you need to remember about a fur coat that will cover your stomach and warm winter shoes. In the hot summer, the bride may need a fan and a hat or parasol. When it comes to jewelry, you should avoid bulky and heavy options, as well as items that can cause irritation to the skin. A pregnant bride should also pay special attention to choosing comfortable underwear that will not restrict her movement.

Menu for a “pregnant” wedding

Women who have already been lucky enough to experience all the delights of pregnancy know better than anyone how unpredictable the reaction of the female body during this period can be to various foods, even those that were just recently familiar. Therefore, developing a menu for such a wedding requires more attention and involves some restrictions. The latter can concern both exclusively the table of the bride herself and the menu of the entire banquet as a whole - it all depends on the severity of the restrictions, the whims of the pregnant woman and her endurance.

All products on the table of the expectant mother must be fresh, of high quality and comply with medical recommendations. Despite your possible desires, you should avoid spicy and fatty foods, exotic and allergenic fruits. Each pregnant bride must decide for herself personally about alcohol and the permitted amount of its consumption, but many doctors say that a little red wine cannot harm a pregnant woman or her baby. On your own wedding day, it is better to adhere to the rules of proper nutrition than to feel bad and ruin your entire holiday.

It’s good when everything in life goes as usual - people get married and have children. But things don't always happen the way we want or expect. And sometimes it's even for the better. After all, it is not so important where exactly the family begins, it is important that two people love each other, want to be together and are ready to accept a third little person into their lives.

Required documents

The following documents are attached to the application to the registry office:

• passports of the bride and groom;
• divorce certificate (if it took place in another city);
• marriage license for minors;
• a certificate from the antenatal clinic about the bride’s condition (in order to speed up registration).

Important: permission for the wedding of minors is issued by the local administration by issuing a resolution of the mayor, head of the district or village administration.

In addition, their parents, guardians or guardianship council must give their consent to the marriage of minors.

In order to expedite registration, a doctor’s certificate must state that the state of pregnancy, or rather the duration or state of health, does not allow postponing registration, since the child may be born out of wedlock.

Choosing an outfit

During pregnancy, important factors must be taken into account:

• The wedding dress is sewn or bought exactly before the holiday - if you miss the deadline, the dress may not be enough.
• It is advisable to sew a dress with a small margin.
• Corsets are contraindicated even for a short period of time. The unborn baby will not thank his mother warmly for the forced oxygen starvation. But whether to hide the belly or not is up to the bride’s choice.
• A small detail: too much ruffles will make the girl’s silhouette heavier.
• Of course, you must remember to check the dress before the ceremony - in case it’s not enough.
• There are also no special rules regarding veils in current fashion: if the bride wants it and it matches the outfit, she can even build a cathedral one.
• It is advisable not to forget spare sports shoes and massage tights - your feet quickly get tired and swell. The shoes themselves are simple and comfortable, without a mind-blowing heel.
• The flowers in the bouquet should be arranged in advance - the bride should not faint from the irritating smell of her previously favorite flowers.

Procedure

First you need to find out on what days the local registry office accepts applications for marriage. You can find out the work schedule either by calling a specialist or from the website of the regional registry office.

If the bride or groom are minors, the algorithm will be as follows:

1. the bride takes a pregnancy certificate from the antenatal clinic;
2. with the certificate, you need to come to the local municipality and write an application for permission to marry before reaching the age of marriage;
3. based on the application, a commission will be created (representative of the administration, board of guardians and parents);
4. based on the results of the meeting, a resolution is being prepared;
5. The resolution with other documents is attached to the application for registration.

If you need to speed up registration:

1. the bride takes a health certificate from the antenatal clinic;
2. the bride and groom write an application for registration, to which they attach documents;
3. Together with the head of the registry office, the issue of the day of registration is decided.

Wedding during pregnancy

Often the simple registration of a marriage in an interesting situation is influenced by public opinion: some people believe that the solemn part is inappropriate here. Yes, and gossip of various kinds plays a role: they got knocked up and started talking, so the young people went, in our times this didn’t happen, we were chaste and even kissed only on our wedding night.

If both the bride and groom are present at the ceremony, then registration is carried out according to the usual algorithm: the newlyweds are signed in a simple or formal atmosphere.

However, the state of health of a pregnant bride may not allow her to personally attend the ceremony; for example, she will be placed in storage.

In this case, you can sign in the hospital: according to the norm of paragraph 6 of Article 27

143 of the Law, the registrar is obliged to register the newlyweds in a medical institution or at home in their presence. Naturally, a solemn atmosphere is not expected. But in order for the registrar to come, you need to confirm your health status with a medical certificate about inpatient or outpatient treatment of the bride.
