Thermolak - nail design that changes color

Thermovarnish is a nail design product that polymerizes in a lamp and changes color when exposed to heat or cold. To change the shade, you can pick up a cup of hot tea or go outside and put on a warm jacket.

Among these products there are light, bright two- or three-color ones of similar shades, catchy contrasting ones, with and without sparkles. Such gel polishes are produced by all companies, one of the most famous is Bluesky. All of them are applied like ordinary flower beds, quite easily, thanks to their thick consistency. The manicure is worn for 2-4 weeks, but closer to the time of removal, the thermal effect becomes less noticeable. The price of gel polish is 250-700 rubles.

What is thermovarnish, shellac thermo

Thermovarnish or shellac thermo is a nail design product with a variable external effect, which is ensured by the difference in temperatures affecting the hands. In the cold or heat, in a dimly lit room or in the light, the shades of the same flower bed will be different. A monochromatic manicure can acquire smooth tints, patterns in the form of drops, stripes, and curls.

The products change color depending on body temperature. On cold hands it will be one thing, when they warm up it will be different. Usually the color is different at the base of the nail plates and at the free edge, since the temperature of the second area is lower. And without additional effort, the manicure is obtained with an ombre effect.

Thermal polishes from Bluesky

Thermolac is a product with a special composition that contains particles that are sensitive to decreases and increases in temperature. They provide a pronounced chameleon effect. Red varnish, which changes color from water, cold and heat, can become blue or purple, yellow - blue, etc.

Unusual solutions

The gradient that appears on the nail plate after applying the miracle product is in itself an original solution. In addition to those already considered classic two-phase, there are also three-color varnishes, which contain three types of heat-sensitive particles. However, if a girl wants to add even more expression, extravagance and brightness to her image, she can even complement the design with thermovarnish:

  • nail piercing;
  • deep design;
  • differences in textures and techniques on different fingers;
  • unusual shape of nails.

Thermolak is not a new product, but it has proven itself in nail art. Every girl can easily use it, and by showing imagination and creativity, you can achieve simply amazing results.

What are the different thermal gel polish colors?

Changeable thermal gel polish has no less variety of shades than traditional ones. All funds can be divided into several groups:

  • Pastel. These are light, delicate tones with a hint of color. The coating contains white, white-pink, beige, peach, cream, light blue, and pale green. Under the influence of heat or cold, they do not transform into rich colors. There will be 2 or 3 shades on the nails, but belonging to the same nude range. For example, at the base the plate will be beige, and the free edge will be cream.
  • Bright. These are shades of the solar spectrum and their catchy variations. There can be combinations of red with purple, burgundy, fuchsia or blue, black with dark gray, brown, emerald with rich light green, etc. That is, all shades are pigmented, but in each case they go well together. 2-3 tones present on the nails on the color wheel are located nearby. And the gradient is obtained with a soft natural transition.
  • Contrasting. These are also bright shades, but the manicure with them will come out with sharp tints. Heat or cold may cause the coating to become, for example, blue-red, white-green or orange-violet. The colors combined in one bottle of gel polish are far from each other on the color wheel. Very often one of them is white. Therefore, the ombre turns out to be much more catchy and noticeable than in the previous case.

Colors from Bluesky

The colors of thermovarnishes from the well-known company Bluesky are mainly combinations of bright shades. There are about 50 of them in total, but the palette is constantly expanding. It already contains products in catchy colors with smooth transitions of shades, a little nude and bright contrasting ones.

In addition to them, the Bluesky company has released flower beds with glitter sparkles. There are gel polishes with large particles, the size of a speck of dust, as well as decorative inclusions of different sizes in one product. Sequins come in a single color or several, but do not change under the influence of temperature.

Thermal varnishes from Bluesky are very popular, giving transitions from 3 shades. They belong to the 2nd group, that is, they are bright colors that smoothly flow into each other. Some of the products are supplemented with glitter.

What is thermo-gel?

Thermolak, left - cold, right - hot

From the name, it is obvious that this coating is inextricably linked with temperature changes. A special substance in the composition reacts to the surrounding temperature, thereby changing its color creating a gradient effect.

The substances contained in the composition react to temperature, both the environment and the temperature of the human body. Thermo shellac has a variety of colors ranging from white to purple. Most of these varnishes are sold with an insert showing options for the final color, depending on the temperature affecting it. Since thermal nail polish reacts to the temperature of the finger, the color at the edge of the nail will be a darker shade than at the base. The edge of the nail is exposed to cool air, thereby creating the effect described above.

Accordingly, in different areas of the nail, the color will differ.

The color transition will look most impressive on long nails. If, for example, you use a blue color, then when exposed to cold air, the regrown edges of the plate will turn blue. In order to understand what color the manicure will have, the kit always includes a special insert with the final option. However, the exact result will depend on temperature changes.

Color changes occur gradually, which gives the manicure its own zest.

How long does a varnish that changes color with temperature last?

The varnish, which changes color depending on the temperature, will remain on the nails for at least 2-4 weeks, that is, as long as traditional flower beds for a long-wearing manicure. It depends rather on the growth rate of the nail plates. But the products are resistant to mechanical stress and, when used correctly, do not peel off. Flower beds with glitter are more reliable, since small shiny particles are an additional factor in keeping the coating on the nails.

But, of course, it is important to protect it from chipping and premature peeling. It is better to do housework and garden work with gloves, especially when dealing with household chemicals. And you shouldn't pick anything with your nails.

Application secrets

Simple nail polish and thermal polish are applied to nails in exactly the same way. There is no need to use a UV lamp when drying. However, the durability of such a manicure is comparable only to an ordinary coating. In order for the manicure to be as decorative as possible and also safe for your nails, you need to follow some rules.

  1. Prepare your nails for applying polish. Push back or trim the cuticle, polish the plate and file the nail:
  2. Degrease the plates using alcohol wipes or nail polish remover with acetone without caring oils;
  3. Cover your nails with a protective base for varnish so that aggressive coloring pigments do not have a negative effect on your own nail;
  4. Wait for the base to dry completely and apply one layer of thermovarnish in the usual way;
  5. Wait for the varnish to dry. Depending on the brand, this period can range from one to five minutes;
  6. Apply a second coat. As when applying the first one, do not try to make the layer thick. Two thin layers provide the necessary color saturation;
  7. Dry the second coat and paint the third coat only on the tips of your nails. This will make the manicure clearer and the effect more catchy and noticeable. This option is especially good if you want to create an effect close to a French manicure. For those who want to do a manicure with ombre-type thermovarnish, it is better not to apply a third layer;
  8. After the third layer has dried, apply a protective base to your nails. It will not only add shine to your manicure, but will also make it more resistant to external influences and any mechanical damage. This way the coating will remain on the nails longer. When applying, it is very important to seal the free edge.

As you can see in the video, thermal nail polish is applied just as easily as regular nail polish. Most often, it dries quickly and lays flat and neat. Therefore, you do not need to have some manicure skills in order to apply it to your nails.

How to do a manicure before thermal polish

Manicure before thermal varnish is a decisive part of preparing nails for long-term wearing of the coating, and it is done as carefully as possible:

  1. The nails are shaped using a nail file. You need to move the tool in one direction so that the plates do not delaminate. If this happens, the coating will not last long. At this stage, it is also important to control the length of the nails; it should be the same.
  2. Use a silicone applicator to push back the cuticle. For the same purpose, you can use the wide tip of an orange stick or a metal pusher.
  3. Using one of these two instruments, the pterygium is removed from the nails at the base and near the lateral ridges. This is a dry pre-cleaning.
  4. Then you can steam your hands in a warm bath and walk with an orange stick over the wet plates to remove the remnants of the pterygium. Instead of water, a remover is also used to soften the cuticle. It is applied for 30-60 seconds, wiped off with a paper napkin, then worked on the nail with a pusher or a wooden stick.
  5. The regrown stratum corneum of the cuticle is cut off with special scissors. You can use wire cutters or a sharp scraper. But in the latter case there is a risk of scratching the nail.
  6. After this, hands should be washed with soap. This removes the remains of the remover, which should not remain on the skin and nails, as well as excess fat and moisture.

The appearance and durability of the coating depend on the quality of the manicure. The cleaner it is, the more polished the design will look. It will be possible to avoid streaks and uneven coating thickness. This type of gel polish draws attention to the hands, all existing defects will be obvious.

If possible, it is worth doing a hardware manicure or a combined one. In both cases, the skin around the nails is polished with soft attachments. And this makes the fingers look perfect.

Collection of nail designs with thermovarnishes

Today, manufacturers are actively working to create new collections that could fully satisfy the needs of sophisticated nail art lovers. Thermal varnishes described in the article appeared relatively recently, but the first “samples” have already been replaced by fresh, interesting solutions. For example, Dance Legend has released a three-color nail coating. Unlike its predecessors, the new chameleon is more sensitive to external temperature fluctuations. Different shades react faster to cold or heat, forming 3 main tones and 2 transitional tones on the surface of the nails. Whatever thermovarnish you choose, believe me, the result will surprise and pleasantly please you. We bring to your attention a photo with several variations of amazing nail art.

Manicure with thermovarnish: ideas

You can come up with no less ideas for a manicure with thermovarnish than with a regular flower garden, but due to the natural brightness of the coating, it is important to observe the measure:

  • Perform a gradient using a product without this effect as an addition. Regular gel polish is selected in the same shade as thermal polish. They apply the first layer. Thermal varnish is used to paint nails not entirely, but, for example, half or 1/3. And you get an iridescent vertical gradient.
  • Use kamifubuki. You can take shiny ones or one of the tones of gel polish. Depending on the shape and size of the decor, kamifubuki are glued to the base of the nails, stretched, and a pattern is drawn out.
  • You can use a matte top on 1-2 nails. The thermovarnish will not lose its properties underneath, but without the glossy shine the effect will be especially original.
  • Draw on 1-2 nails. The image should be in a minimalist style, done in black or white paint and occupy a small part of the plate. You can also slide it towards the side bolster. Another option is to make a drawing with the same shade that is in the gel polish, and outline it with black and white.
  • Use web gel. They decorate only the free edge or nail near the cuticle. You can place the decor differently on each plate, but in small quantities so as not to hide the thermal varnish.
  • Glue the rhinestones. It is better to take white transparent stones or the same colors that are present in the coating. There shouldn't be many of them either.
  • Use foil. And there are many options here, for example, highlighting the free edge with tape to get a French jacket. You can print transfer foil onto part of your nail. Silver or golden decor, as well as a shade of the thermovarnish itself, is suitable.
  • You can use pearl rub on 1-2 plates. Or use it to highlight a part of each nail, dividing it diagonally.
  • Get a French or moon manicure using regular gel polish. It must match the color of the thermal product. They are allocated a free edge or holes. Or you can make a French design on your index finger, a lunar design on your middle finger, and paint the rest with a base product with a thermal effect.

Design ideas

Thermolak itself is an interesting and creative solution in nail art, but new trends require even more ingenuity and imagination from girls. Manicure using such a product can be performed in various ways.

  • Using stones, Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, bouillons, crystal chips (Crystal Pixie). They can be located at the base of the nail, along, across or in a curly manner. An effective solution would be to perform a lunar manicure, when the hole is lined with pebbles, and it is from these stones that thermovarnish is applied.
  • French. In this case, camouflage can be of any color, and the line of the French manicure itself is drawn with thermal varnish.
  • A design with a pattern that can be made with thermovarnish, or the product can be taken as a basis (background). It is possible to embody the idea in floral, animalistic, abstract or any other motifs.
  • Using tape.
  • Slider design - stickers.
  • "Liquid Stones"
  • Stamping.

When should you go for nail correction?

Thermal nails do not get boring, since the design is changeable and unusual, but it should be updated at least after 2-3 weeks. With the slow growth of the plates and the durability of the coating, you can wear the gel polish a little longer. The need for correction is caused by several reasons:

  • Over time, the coating fades and loses some of its properties. That is, the thermovarnish turns almost into a regular one; when the temperature changes, the shade is not so noticeably updated. Especially if it has a pastel color.
  • This type of coating is more “chemical” than traditional gel polishes. Therefore, the condition of the nail plates should be monitored more closely. Thermal products have persistent pigments that can harm them.
  • There is a risk of breaking your nails. Indeed, as they grow, the material moves closer to the free edge, which overloads it. The likelihood of injury at growth points is especially high, that is, it will also be accompanied by pain. Those who have thin nails and whose manicure was done with strengthening with gel or powder are also at risk. In these cases, the layer of material at the tip will be thicker, and the chance of injury increases.
  • There is a risk of onycholysis, which will not allow making a new coating. In some places, nails may move away from the bed, which is facilitated by overuse. This is again due to the excessive load on the free edge.
  • Strongly overgrown nails with thermovarnish look especially ugly and ridiculous. This is still acceptable with a French or nude manicure, but a bright “chameleon” attracts much more attention to the hands.
  • After 2-3 weeks, the coating may begin to peel off, which is dangerous for the health of the nails. It is not always possible to see the “pockets” that appear before removing the manicure. And they become a place for dirt and germs to accumulate, which can lead to infections.

What it is

All women know this painful choice of the shade of varnish with which to paint their nails. Usually the tone is chosen according to the mood or for a special image. Having chosen one color, they immediately want to try covering their fingers with another. But constantly changing the color of the varnish has a detrimental effect on the nail plate. A manicure with thermovarnish solves this problem.

manicure with thermo polish

This effect will appeal to all changeable natures who like to constantly experiment. A thermovarnish was developed especially for them, which changes its shade depending on the environment. The product applied to the nails can alternate shades if the temperature suddenly rises or falls. In a warm space, the shade begins to lighten, and in a cold space, the color of the coating takes on bright and contrasting undertones.

Thermolak is quite sensitive to heat and senses the temperature of the fingers. The free edge, which grows 3-5 mm or more, may have a completely opposite tone than the varnish that lies on the nail plate of the finger. This is how two completely different colors are formed.

A manicure with thermovarnish is somewhat reminiscent of a colored French manicure. True, the smile line takes on straight outlines, and not a crescent, as in a classic French manicure. This gradient effect persists as long as the body temperature and air temperature are different.

The transition of one color to another can be observed in a very warm and very cold room or using hot and ice water.

There is no need to confuse chameleon varnish and thermovarnish. The first one changes colors under different lighting conditions, and the second one changes colors when the temperature changes. Both products have different characteristics and features. They differ not only in composition, but also in structure and properties.

Why does it change color

Thermal gel polish is a special plastic gel made according to a special formula that combines the best properties of a modeling gel and high-quality varnish. This new product in the nail industry contains heat-sensitive components that react to different temperature conditions and are able to darken and lighten when heated and cooled.

The palette of thermovarnishes is limitless. Sometimes the shades strongly contrast with each other (yellow and chocolate, yellow and purple, black and white), and sometimes the color pair is close in sound (yellow and green, blue and light blue, pink and purple).

Advantages and disadvantages

A manicure with thermovarnish has a number of pros and cons. Let's take a closer look at the main positive aspects of a specific varnish:

  • color change at different temperature conditions;
  • wide palette of shades;
  • thermovarnish is highly resistant;
  • stays on nails for 2-3 weeks;
  • does not need adjustment;
  • does not form chips or cracks;
  • resistant to mechanical damage;
  • has an affordable price;
  • easy to use;
  • has a dense texture;
  • has good pigmentation;
  • lies flat on the nail plate;
  • One jar lasts for a long time.

Among the negative quality of thermovarnish are:

  • unpleasant odor;
  • over time, the effect of changing shades decreases;
  • high-quality brands are quite expensive;
  • Possible allergy to products contained in thermovarnish;
  • short shelf life after opening the bottle.

Thermal nail polish price

The price of thermal nail polish ranges from 250 to 700 rubles. This depends on the manufacturer and the volume of the bottle (8,10 or 15 ml). The denser the shade of the product, the more expensive it is. Therefore, you should not buy the cheapest flower beds with a thermal effect. This one will have to be painted in 3-4 layers, and the bottle will end much faster than a bottle of more expensive gel polish.

A product with a thermal effect is worth having for those who do their own manicure. This is an easy way to create a gradient, which even masters don’t always succeed in doing. And other designs with thermovarnish will be much more varied.
